After so many failed attempts at getting back close to God, I think I have finally turned the corner again - though the road ahead is still long and difficult.
God can use us in whatever circumstance we are in. I have learned this from my time in hospital back in 2019, to the visits in and out of hospital since then, through the diagnosis of Diabetes and now getting to the age where I should be thinking of retiring!
The more I have to do with God and his church, the more I realise just how much he has been trying to guide me and keep me safe over the years. I look back at the many close calls I have had in life and the lives of my parents and family. We have been blessed in many ways, but none more so than when we are in church seeking God.
The more we seek him the more we realise this and the more willing we are to share our lives with him and for him. I have no problem doing what I do for God's glory though some around me wonder why! But I feel the happier I am with God the more they will be able to see thins and think about what they have in life - or do not have.
We are a living example for Christ. We are living because of him. We should be living to the fullest for him now too!

30 October: Luke 14:1-6
Key Verse: Luke 14:5
Then he said to them, ‘If one of you has a child or an ox that has fallen into a well, will you not immediately pull it out on a sabbath day?’
Devotion:
I have seemed to enjoy watching futuristic Sci-Fi movies and shorts at the moment, maybe a short distraction from the computer and server management I have been buried in over this last week or so, but equally if I had spotted a short set in the old days, I may well have watched that too - if I had the time.
But as we read through this, the setting is clearly based on people who looked after oxen and whose children were free to roam around the neighbourhood without fear of much danger.
Today's society may have a few things to say about these words, but they were very fitting for the people here. Some of the Pharisees around him were probably wealthy and had a few oxen to their names.
What Jesus was getting them to think about was "what is more important to you": Keeping the laws of the time, or keeping family and belongings safe?
Points to ponder:
Do you look out for family first - you should!
What would you do if Jesus asked something of you?

Psalm 111:1: Alleluia. I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the faithful and in the congregation.
When I first read this verse I was thinking how much some of us do lift up the name of Jesus and make joyful noises in church... but do we do the same when we are away from church?
It is all very well to allow Christians to see how much you love God - but how well do other people know you? DO they even know you are a Christian, or do they jsut think you are one of those people who go to church!
Let it be known that you love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul - do not be ashamed or afraid!
