Revelation 10:9: So I went to the angel and told him to give me the little scroll, and he said to me, “Take it and eat; it will be bitter to your stomach but sweet as honey in your mouth.”
I have always found the book of Revelation one of those hard to read places in the bible, and today it kinda made sense as I read this passage.
The voice from heaven spoke to John at thise portion of the passage and tells him the word of God (scroll/scripture) is going to be sweet as honey to the mouth but bitter to the stomach!
God's Word is very pleasant and fulfilling to read, but when we get to think about the true meaning we get to worry about our lives and what we have done wrong.
Lift up your life to God and allow him to guide you today!

Psalm 44:1: We have heard with our ears, O God; our ancestors have told us what deeds you performed in their days, in the days of old:
One of the traits of us humans is that we tend to remember things; aadmitadly we tend to remember the bad things more than the good... it's just what we do!
Here the psalmist tells of the people remembering all God has done in the past, the time when the people of Israel were wondering through the desert.
If we can remember more of the good things has done for us rather than all the bad things which happen in the world around us, we will be encouraged - maybe even enough to depend more on God like he wants us to!

August 3: Psalm 119:90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
As we look aound the world at the state of some of our forests and heathland after a prolonged dry spell, we begin to think that things cannot last forever because we see the destruction of wild fires all over the world where it has been dry.
But, in amongst all of this, we soon will begin to see new growth as the old has made way for the new. It is not comforting living in the hear and now because we live amongst the destruction...
But God is always with us, is always trying to guide us and is always looking afetr us. The more we trust in him, the more we see how much he does, for us, for our children and our grandchildren!

Psalm 17:6: I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my words.
This Psalm laments about God attending to our cries for help. The Psalmist goes as far as saying they do not have wickedness in them...
Whilst that may well be true at the time of writing this, there are always times when we get upset with others and harbour bad thoughts!
But we must always remember we can call on Christ at any time no matter what the circumstance! He loved us while we were sinners, not because we were not sinners! His love sees through the things we do and caresses our souls where he knows the real us lives!

Psalm 41:1: Blessed are those who consider the poor and needy; the Lord will deliver them in the time of trouble.
Bit late this morning, once again too much work in the background, but through that you know someone doesn't like me spreading God's word!
One of the things we are taught by our Lord is to always think of others less fortunate than us.
No matter how much we think the world is against us, we can know that Christ is for us and is always considering our needs all of the time.
Depending on Him and acknowledging this can be difficult when we cannot see a way forward - maybe someone close to you is in need right now!

Psalm 35:2 Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers; say to my soul, "I am your salvation."
Continuing on with another verse from another Psalm, I love this stage King David is going through where he feels like the whole world is probably against him.
Most of us get like this at some stage in our lives and it is good to remember words like these to give us strength to get through the hard times.
If we can remember words like this during the toughest of times, our sould will be strengthened and we will continue to rise!

Psalm 34:5 Look to him, and be radient, so your faces shall never be ashamed.
Here I am sitting in a nice quiet church, bit hot, but all the windows are open and a nice breeze is beginning to flow through the church.
As a Christian, how often do others see you as being 'radient?'
As I read this verse I was reminded that Christ calls us to be like lights, shining bright for Him. Don't let the world get you down, always remember you have a wonderful Saviour in Christ and let that shine, always!

Matthew 14:30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’
How much are you willing to trust your own belief? Are you willing to step out without worldly support?
Christ wants each of us to trust in Him for everything in our lives and not to be limited by worldly requirements.
Are you willing to give a bit more control to Christ in your life?

Psalm 70:5 But as for me, I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; Lord, do not delay.
What sort of a student have you been at school? Did you listen and try and learn?
The more we listen and learn, the better students we are and the more we are likely to succeed.
God is trying to teach us all the time – we need to be good students!

Psalm 105:42 For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham.
One thing we need to always remember is God will always keep His promises!
We have the whole history of the people of Israel to show us how God has kept His promises throughout time.
Stand on those promises and help others to see how they too can fully rely on God!

Psalm 88:6 You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths.
How many times do you blame God for the things which go wrong in your life?
How many times are they down to someone else or yourself doing something wrong instead?
Are you willing to give God control within your life?

Psalm 27:13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
One of the things many of us tend to forget to do is to praise God for all He does in our lives every day.
Too often we get caught up in the everyday things in life to see just how much God does do in our lives.
Thanking God and praising Him every day should be one of the highlights of our day!

Psalm 25:12 Who, then, are those who fear the Lord? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
Who are the people who are willing to listen and learn from God’s Word?
Those who are willing to humble themselves before God and show they fear the Lord – not fear as in afraid but fear as in uttermost respect!
When we show God the respect due, we will see changes in our lives as we move forward with God in everything!

Psalm 85:10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
What a wonderful way of describing love and faithfulness – without these two attributes, we are not going to get very far in life...
But with them, we will be able to go a little further, encourage others a little more and stay safer with others!
God wants us to love the people around us like we love ourselves.
God wants us to share the righteousness and peace we get from God with those around us!

Amos 7:14 Amos answered Amaziah, ‘I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.
Amos was looked at as being a prophet by Amaziah the priest, but he was not saying nice things so was rejected by the priests!
God chooses who He wants to be the prophets or missionaries He wants in the places He wants them to be.
As long as we listen to God and are faithful in telling people what God teaches us, then we too are doing God’s will in our lives.

Matthew 7:1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
Are you going to blame someone when things go wrong? What if they did something by mistake – because they are just human like you!
God wants us to be different so people will question themselves rather than having to be faced with judgment from others!
Judgement does not help anyone to break free of their sinful ways – it traps them in those ways.

Hosea 6:6 For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
Just in case you were thinking God wanted sacrifices up until Jesus was a personal sacrifice... He has long tried to get people to understand why He asked for sacrifices to being with!
God does not want us to do things just because the rules say we must...
God wants us to do things right because we want to and we want to please God through doing these things!

Psalm 6:3 My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?
How long do you wait for God to answer your prayers? Have those prayers come from your heart or from a book?
God wants us to be very personal with our prayers – the psalmist here lifts up his words in anguish, waiting for God to answer!
It is better we spend a single minute lifting up a prayer from our heart than a whole day lifting up loads of words for the sake of words

Matthew 6:27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Have you noticed how worrying about things seems to make them worse?
Have you noticed how little you can do with worry?
God wants us to take action instead of worrying about things. God wants us to make a difference and not just talk about it.
God wants us to pray and not just say we will!

James 1:4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
When we find ourselves in hard times, we can either collapse in a heap or we can get stronger.
God knows how much we can take, but He is not going to load us up until we are almost at breaking point... that is the world, not God!
God does not say He will keep us apart from trials, but He does say He will be with us through them... Count on God!
