1 Kings 2:3  and observe what the Lord your God requires: walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go

When King David knew he was dying, he called Solomon to him and gave his some instructions.

His words were simple – to listen to God, obey God and do what He requires.

This is what being a disciple looks like and this is what Jesus asks of us.

Psalm 89:21  My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him.

As David continued to live he remembered the promise God had made to sustain and strengthen Him.

This same promise comes to each of us and we should readily accept it from God.

We should also sing our praises to God just as David did throughout his life!

2 Samuel 6:19  Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women. And all the people went to their homes.

When David had completed his sacrifice to God to give Him all the glory, he stopped and did something personal.

He gave each person in the crowd who came to worship God a load of bread and a cake of raisins!

This was his way of saying, just as we are enlisted into God’s family, we are all in one big church family!

2 Samuel 5:3  When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a covenant with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel.

David made sure the truth always came out – even when he was the one trying to hide it!

Here the people recognised the truth and elected their next king because of what he had done for them.

You can be assured the truth will come out – are you willing to support that truth?
