18 September: Luke 8:1-3
Key Verse: Luke 8:3
and Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their resources.
Devotion:
When Jesus was out and about with the disciples he did cure a lot of people, not just from diseases but also from spiritual matters. The people whom he healed were very grateful and willing to follow him round and care for them too.
That is a solid show of neighbourly love in my books. Not the love a person has for another in a relationship, but the love one has for another when they have shared something together.
Another thing which stands out is the fact women were involved in this ministry walk about. The women were the witnesses and the examples for others to know that Jesus was the real deal.
Jesus wants us all to be a part of this ministry; whether we are the examples of what Christ can do, the ones who stand up and talk about Jesus or the ones who pray behind the scenes - we are all an important part of the ministry of the Gospel.
Points to ponder:
How do you see yourself in the chain of ministry?
Are you willing to share your experiences with others?
