12 September: Psalm 23:1-6

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Devotion:
When I was in hospital back in 2019, I clung to the words in this Psalm and took them as if it was for me.
No matter what the doctors and nurses said while I was in intensive care and high dependency wards, I always knew God was with me and knew he was looking after me. It was not just because someone had said so or anything like that because I did not get to have many people visit me because of the wards I was in and having pipes stuck in all sorts of holes.
But those who did visit knew they just had to sit and pray more than talk. I only found out after being released that the doctors had said on several occasions that I would probably not make it through the night; but God had told me otherwise!
When you read verses like these, take them for your own; don't assume it is meant for someone more worthy or someone not in your circumstances - God made sure these words were written for you to have comfort during the hardest and most dire of times.
Points to ponder:
Always assume God is listening to you and watching over you!
If it were not so, he would have told us before now...
