29 October: Psalm 18:1-7
Key Verse: Psalm 18:4
The cords of death entwined me and the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
Devotion:
When you have had a hard time and you read verses like this, you can feel the pain and torment rather than just reading about it. For the last few days I have been working long hours every day trying to protect the web sites I run for others. I have felt pummelled from all sides as the relentless hackers keep finding new ways of breaking the internet!
Once we all used to trust each other and did not feel the need for secure passwords, never mind all the shenanigans we get up to now! There was a certain amount of trust for your fellow people and we loved to share things.
Nowadays we find ourselves backed into corners having to fight to keep a small amount of data safe - for why? Just because someone wants to make a few dollars selling your email address!
But, through all of this, God is still my rock and my fortress. He protects me, the me inside, the real me which matters. That is all.
Points to ponder:
How much does God mean to you?
Do you know you mean a lot to him!
