John 13:1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
Jesus always made sure that He carried things out to completion and did not leave things half finished.
How many times do we try to start something only to give up because we find it too difficult or because we find we cannot do it, or even because we just don’t want to?
Jesus made sure He did not promise what He could not do. He made sure He did carry out promises. He made sure of this all because of His love for us.
He loves us and continues to love us even now.

Isaiah 50:6 I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.
Jesus willingly gave Himself up to face some terrible hours at the end of His life as a human man.
He allowed people to accuse Him and sentence Him to death on the cross. He allowed people to whip Him on the back. He allowed people to pluck out His beard. And He allowed people to mock and shame Him.
He did not do this because He is weak but because He is very strong and His love for us goes so much further than these punishments!

Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Imagine what a host of angels would sound like? I wonder, have you ever heard a very large choir singing Hosanna?
It is awesome to hear a load of people singing in tune and sounding really beautiful, so a choir from Heaven is going to be just breath-taking!
Now think about what it is they are actually singing! Think about the fact they are singing praise to God Himself and then singing a blessing to us!
God is good all the time. All the time, God is good!

Matthew 21:9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!”
When the people were shouting out their praise they were also making sure that people understood why… They were shouting out praise to the Son of David.
That means they were praising their Messiah, lifting up this person as the chosen one, the one foretold in the prophecies.
When you tell people about Christ do you make sure they know you are praising God and not just some prophet?
Lift up Christ in praise as your Lord and King today and let people know!

Mark 11:9 Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
There were two groups of people with Jesus as He entered into Jerusalem, those in front of Him and those behind Him.
Some had followed from Jericho which was a short distance away. Some met Him in Jerusalem.
But no matter where they came from, they were lifting up His name and praising Him. How bold and brave would they have to be to do that in spite of the Sanhedrin?
Jesus knows what it takes. Are you willing to give what it takes?

Romans 14:7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself.
If we are living for or to ourselves then we will get nothing more out of life than we can put into it – which is a bit of a disappointment really!
Putting everything into your working life will bring great rewards, but at what cost to your soul and your spirit?
I did like earning lots of money and spending it too, but that never gave me the love, joy and peace that I now have with my life in Christ.
Be brave and do things for Christ to see how much more your will get from life with others!

1 Peter 4:2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
If you say that lust can be a powerful thing then you have just fallen into the trap – lust is the most powerful thing that will drive us away from righteousness.
I am not just talking about the lust of the flesh either, though most people will identify with that when the word is said.
Lust will make us do so much more than we should do because it is like a black hole that sucks everything into itself, hiding the light of truth.
God’s will is not that we follow our lust but think about His will and try to follow Him.

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
Throughout God’s Word we are reminded to think more about spiritual matters and more about what is in store for us in Heaven than to dwell on the things of this earth.
If we focus on the earthly things then we are focusing on dwindling or vanishing things instead of the greatness that God can offer us.
Focusing on fleshly things will make us live for them instead of living for God; so focus on the things of God and you are more likely to live for God!

Psalm 31:19 Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men!
Where does fear of the Lord turn into belief in Christ? It may be a very grey line for some people who are searching for something special…
When we are willing to lay aside our expectations of a grand parade or special return party then we are able to accept that belief itself as being the special event.
Don’t go looking for earthly rewards to believing in Christ because you may well be disappointed in what you find and turn away from the goal.
God wants us to believe as we are so He can work with us.

Psalm 33:8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
It is easy at times to lift up praise to God when we are in a congregation all singing for joy or when we are happy and content, but maybe not so easy when we have problems.
What we need to remember is that God is the same whether we have issues or not. He continues to be God and continues to support us.
All we need to do is to look at all He has done throughout time to see that we need to remember to praise Him always.
Let your praises be lifted up because God is God. He is all powerful and He does know everything.

Deuteronomy 21:21 Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.
If you think that obedience is something that you should only do when you think it right, then take a look back in the Old Testament where it reminds us of the importance of obedience.
God takes it very seriously and laid down laws to make sure that we take it seriously too; so much so that our lives would depend on it!
If God is telling us that is how important it is we should be standing up and taking notice, not putting it down to some excuse or other.
Listen to God. Listen to Him carefully and obey!

Proverbs 30:17 The eye that mocks his father, and scorns obedience to his mother, the ravens of the valley will pick it out, and the young eagles will eat it.
Not a pleasant though to think first thing in the morning, but one that needs to be a reminder for us every day nonetheless.
Throughout the Bible God has demonstrated what obedience is and how important it is. Throughout those times man has demonstrated lack of obedience and the consequences of that.
We may not have the ravens and eagles actually come and pluck our eyes out but we may well wish that be true rather than face the consequences we may have to face because of our disobedience.
Trust God and obey Him just as we learn to trust our parents and obey them.

Malachi 1:6 “A son honours his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honour? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’
God has every right to complain about the lack of honour and respect for Him from all of us.
In the beginning there was honour and respect from mankind toward God because they saw what He was capable of; yet how quickly we forget because we do not personally see that.
We still have some love and respect in families and in relationships, but many people have not got that same respect or fear of God.
Do not lose sight of God just because you cannot physically see Him. Remember God. Fear God. Love God.

John 5:23 that all should honour the Son just as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who sent Him.
Jesus did not seek praise and worship in the same self-gratifying way we do but lifted up His Father at all times whilst admitting that He was equal to God.
This caused a lot of upset amongst the religious leaders at the time because they did not want to accept that Jesus would lower Himself to such an extent that He did.
How else could Jesus show His absolute love for us than by making Himself equal to man and well as being equal to God?
If Jesus could do that, why can’t we show Him the love and respect due Him?

Acts 10:26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I myself am also a man.”
How do you take praise and adoration? When we look at so many of the pop stars or film stars of this world we see people who are living for worship.
God has not raised us to be worshiped but to worship. He does not require that we build up the biggest following ever so that we can be proud of what we do.
If you are willing to read your bible then you should be willing to give that truth out to others. When you do that you are not promoting the way you can do things but rather what God has done and can do.
Live for Christ and not for yourself!

Revelation 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
When John tried to bow down and worship whomever was telling him these things he was told to stop that and save the worship for God Himself.
Often in our lives we lift up a person in charge beyond where we should. They take on a level of importance in our lives that then challenges the position God should be.
So let us remember that Jesus lowered Himself to the position of a servant to make sure we lift up our praise to God alone.
Yes, Jesus is the Son of God, but just to make sure we get no false ideas we need to remember that we worship one true God!

Genesis 16:6 So Abram said to Sarai, “Indeed your maid is in your hand; do to her as you please.” And when Sarai dealt harshly with her, she fled from her presence.
When Abram gave permission to Sarai to deal with Hagar, it was not permission to take her life or to be evil toward her.
Sarai exercised her right (well within her rights according to the law of that day) to be harsh toward Hagar and as a result Hagar ran away.
When we do things that are not right, other people get hurt as well as us. Think about the results of your actions and just maybe your actions may be more in line with God’s will…

Job 1:12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
I’m pretty sure this is one of those passages that many cannot get their minds round because it looks like God is allowing Satan to punish Job.
Yes God allows Satan to do his own will, but it is Satan who is doing the evil deeds.
Have you ever wondered why you feel guilty after doing something very wrong? When you felt guilty did that stop you from doing that again?
The choice to do evil is yours. The choice to turn back to God is yours as well!

John 9:3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
Don’t blame everything bad on sin. The root of the problem may well be the sin that man brought into the world, but that does not mean that we get punished for our sins or our parents’ sins.
God is going to be glorified when people lift His name up and when people see what He does in their lives.
Our bodies are very complex and our minds are even more complex; that means they will go wrong at times and we have to accept the consequences.
But we can and should ask God to help us when things do go wrong. Accept and ask!

John 12:28 “Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
Jesus upheld God’s authority and deity by giving Him the glory at all times; and to stamp that authority God replied from Heaven that He would make sure His name would be glorified just as it had already been glorified.
God was going to glorify His name through many miracles and events that could not be attributed to anyone other than God Himself.
This ultimate authority of God was not only shown in what Jesus did and upheld but also by all who received the Holy Spirit.
God is faithful to respond to righteous people who will give Him the glory!
