Psalm 145:2 Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.
How often do you make sure other people get to know you depend on God?
If you do not show people you depend on God, how are they going to realise their own faith.
The strength of our faith grows the faith in others...

Hosea 8:7 “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up.
Don’t try to build you life on anything other than the truth and God’s Word…
When we try to build our lives on worldly things, they will never last.
This world will not last against God’s Word – be on the right side!

Matthew 10:1 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
What set Christ apart so He could give the disciples the authority to do these miracles?
He is the Son of God and came to change the world because the world was struggling with sin.
Christ wants you to make a difference, not because you are good, but because you too are a child of God!

July 10: Hosea 10:1-2
Key Verse: Hosea 10:2
Their heart is deceitful, and now they must bear their guilt. The Lord will demolish their altars and destroy their sacred stones.
Devotion:
No matter how much Christ gives you and how much you can do things in His name, never forget where you came from! We are sinners who are in need of a Saviour, sinners who should, by all rights, pay for our sins – after all, we are guilty!
But Christ came to save us from those sins, to pay the debt which we owe and to free us from the death we deserve because of those wrong-doings. He came and laid His own life down instead of us having to do so. He did this because of His love for us and because the Father loves us too.
When things go our way we start to look at the rewards we are gaining and we lose track of the things God has done to allow us to get this far. When we lose sight of God and His ways, we fall back into doing those things wrong once again because we focus on those worldly things instead of the heavenly things of God!
Our hearts are tainted because we look to the world and its ways and grow closer to them instead of getting closer to God. Once we set our focus on Him instead, we grow stronger and closer to Him where He can then guide us and protect us better!
Points to Ponder:
How much do you focus on worldly prizes?
How much do you focus on Godly prizes?

Hosea 11:2 But the more they were called, the more they went away from me.
What were you like as a young person? Did you listen intently to the people in charge, or did you sometimes rebel?
We are brought up to follow rules, but also to break them from time to time – it’s a failing of our human nature…
Christ wants us to know, no matter what we do, He still loves us and still wants us to join Him in Heaven!

Hosea 14:2 Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.
What do you do with God’s Word? Do you hide it in your heart and keep it for yourself?
Jesus wants us to share His Word to everyone who is willing to listen – that is where we got it from…
Passing on the secret of eternal life is a gift we should be happy to share… Just do it!

Psalm 51:3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
As long as we understand God knows we are sinners and we realise Christ came to cover our sin debt…
We are free to do anything for God because He is calling each one of us by name!
Allow the blood of Christ to wash your sins away so you too can work for God!

Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.
God loves us and has chosen us to be His people. He chose us to be special, not sinners!
We chose to be sinners and drove ourselves away from Him.
But He is waiting for us to come back and say sorry so He can love us more again!

Isaiah 1:13 Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations - I cannot bear your worthless assemblies.
One of the things we see from time to time is how God told the people through the prophets that their offerings were worthless!
God does not look at the physical act of offerings or sacrifices…
God looks at your heart and what you actually feel about any offering you may bring forward!

Matthew 10:20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
How many times have you failed because you tried to do it all yourself?
How many times have you succeeded because you have listened to instructions?
Are you ready to listen to God as He gives you perfect instructions?

Psalm 94:11 The Lord knows all human plans; he knows that they are futile.
One of the things I see people being confused by is the language used in the Old Testament.
We often forget these words are written by people who were trying to make sense of living with God…
If we simply accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour, other things will fall into place. Our own plans are nothing when compared to God’s plans!

Isaiah 26:10 But when grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness; even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and do not regard the majesty of the Lord.
One thing we should never try to do is to make someone change their mind – or think we can make them change!
God is the only one who can do the miracles of the heart like that…
We just need to show people they do have a choice and they should choose wisely...

Matthew 12:7 If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
When we get too tied up in the words and lose track of grace and mercy, we also lose track on what God wants!
Jesus informed the Pharisees they had lost track of what God wanted and because of this they were hurting people.
When we get angry we also lose sight of what is right in God’s eyes and end up hurting people...

July 19: Isaiah 38:1-8
Key Verse: Isaiah 38:5
“Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life.
Devotion:
When Hezekiah was very ill and about to die, Isaiah was sent to him to tell him to put his financial affairs in order because he was going to die. Hezekiah wept bitterly and cried out to God silently to allow him to live a bit longer. God heard his prayers and sent Isaiah back to tell him they had an additional 15 years!
God hears our prayers and answers them! But I want to remind you here of the genuine nature of Hezekiah’s prayers; they were not some off-the-cuff talk with God to try and get a bit more out of life but an earnest plea with God to allow him to live a bit more. God was listening to every moment of that prayer and saw the tears. He had compassion on Hezekiah and answered those prayers showing mercy!
This does not give us the right to ask for longer lives or more money or other one-off things which are of no importance in the house of God. God knew Hezekiah was going to do more work for Him to advance the Word of God; that is why He was willing to grant more years for Hezekiah.
God is always going to listen to our prayers. He always hears them. He always answers them in one form or another. How we deal with those answers and what we do to give God the glory is what will make all the difference! I love to tell people how God has supported me and given me a longer life when all the doctors thought otherwise – because God gets the glory!
Points to Ponder:
What do you ask for in your prayers?
How much do you give God the glory for your life?

Psalm 10:1 Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
Have you ever wondered why God chooses to ignore you when things go wrong?
Have you ever thought, just maybe, He is waiting for you to come back from that horrible place you are in?
God does not ignore us, but He cannot abide the evil places we may find ourselves in...

What do you give to a relationship?

We all think we lack things much of the time – because we are not fully focused on God.

If you see a choice between a comfortable and clean house to live in, or a dirty and dangerous cave, which do you choose?
God gives us the choice to be with Him and under His protection…

Psalm 88:14 Why, Lord, do you reject me and hide your face from me?
Why do we blame God for His shortcomings when things go wrong in our lives?
It is just the way we are because, as humans, we want to be able to blame someone else when the world goes wrong!
God never lets us down and never turns His back on us. We do, however, turn our backs on Him and let Him down many times...
