October 15: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10

Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Devotion:
I do like the way Paul writes about how he wants to boast all the time – I think that is something we can all relate to. But many of us do not want to boast about ourselves because we want to give God the glory. One thing we can do as Christians, though, is to boast about our weaknesses rather than our strengths! We get our strength from God.

I know many people like to boast about how hard life is or how much they have to put up with – we all get trapped in that at some stage in our lives, but we don’t have to brag about how much we can put up with – that again is building up and boasting about yourself rather than God!

To give God the glory, we should make sure people understand what we have in our lives through the hope Christ gives us and how much we fall short of the mark when it comes down to it. We are all sinners in one form or another and bragging about that sin does not seem right. But what we can do is to show people God gives us so much mor through His grace and His strength. We have the ultimate hope of eternal life because of what He has done for us.

If you want to start bragging today to get it out of your system, then start bragging about how God covers your weaknesses, how He has enough grace to cover your faults, how He is faithful to forgive no matter what and how others can get this all too. Don’t lift yourself up above others. Rather, lift God above all else and show others how important God is in your life!

Points to Ponder:
Do you like a little boast now and again?

How much do you boast about God?
