Luke 6:10 He looked round at them all, and then said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ He did so, and his hand was completely restored.

I love the way Jesus still worked miracles and did things on the Sabbath even though people had made their minds up about what should or shouldn’t be done!

Jesus was not scared to stand up for God and make sure people knew the power of God every day of the week – even on the days when people were not supposed to be doing stuff!

God wants us to continue loving and caring for the poor even though the world around us is crumbling.

We can work sensibly and carefully and safely – allow God to guide you and not your personal desires!

1 Kings 18:46 The power of the Lord came on Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

I love this verse which highlights the power God can give us and the way the world will look strangely at us when we do God’s business!

People have looked sideways at me when I have said I am off to do something for God like I was going against what was logical or right...

My response is God knows much better than I do what can be done and people are far too often blinkered by red tape to see what is possible.

Trust in what God can do with you!

2 Samuel 12:21 His attendants asked him, ‘Why are you acting in this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!’

Many people do frown at the way we act as Christians, not so much because we are weird, but because we go against their perceived ideas of how we should act.

We need to act according to our true relationship with God and not according to religious expectations.

We need to show people why we do things the way we do so they can make informed decisions about a loving caring God who does not go back on His word!

Trust in God’s promises!

Romans 13:13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

As Christians we are often look upon as the role models in our communities; a title we don’t always look at with fondness.

But God has given us these positions for a reason, to shed light in a world which seems to be consumed with darkness most of the time.

Without someone who is going to stand against these ways, the world would simply copy each other and fall under peer pressure into a pit of doom... I don’t know how else to put it...
