1 John 3:1  See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

When we accept Jesus into our lives we become children of God; that is so very special!

What the world sees is a person who has to rely on someone else – what we see is a Father who cares above and beyond!

Come and be a child of God and enjoy His protection and love!

Romans 8:25  But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

What is hope unless we do not yet have what we hope for?

Jesus knew people around Him lacked the type of loving relationship He shared with His Father.

He wants us to have share in the love He has for us and for His Father!

Psalm 68:6  God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

One of the things we get to know about God when we accept Him as our God is that He cares above and beyond!

When we call out to Him with our worries, our loneliness, our weakness or our infirmaries, He will answer!

When we turn our backs on Him, we are left to do our own things which often lead to destruction.

October 29: John 8:12-20

Key Verse: John 8:15
You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one.

Devotion:
One of the things we find hard not to do is to judge others by our own standards. If Jesus were to judge others by His own standards, everyone would fall short of the standard. But what Jesus says here is quite remarkable in my eyes. He says He is the Lights of the world, that He testifies of Himself and He does not judge others!

As a judge, Jesus would be the ultimate authority, but He stops short of judging people because He wants everyone to have a chance to come to Him and admit to their own shortcomings. He knows He is the Son of God but He calls Himself the Light of the world instead. If He came forward and told everyone He was the Son of God in the beginning, many may have not believed Him.

By coming forward as the light of the world He is telling everyone He is the example for others to look up at. He is not condemning people but giving them something to aim for instead. If we could be more like that instead of judging others I’m sure we would be a much more peaceful world!

But the most amazing things is when we come to Jesus He will stand before God and be our advocate, declaring us innocent before His Father. How can we turn that down!

Points to Ponder:
Do you judge people?

Will you try to be an example instead?
