1 Chronicles 13:10 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.

When God got the people of Israel to create the Ark of the Covenant, it was with strict instruction for no person to touch it after it was dedicated.

Unfortunately, Uzzah reached out to steady it as it went over rough ground and broke that single law.

Was God right to carry out His promise? Well, He had not choice because He had made the promise. Now everyone knew it was a promise!

God will not put up with people doing things wrong for much longer…

Hebrews 12:5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you”

Just as He wants us to do more and more for Him each day, He wants it to be done in the right manner.

If we run off and try to do things our own way, we are going to fall short of His wishes and eventually come up against Him!

God is not going to stand idly by and watch us do things wrong over and over again; He is going to discipline us before too long; just as a parent disciplines their children, He will discipline us!

Don’t be put off by this – He is doing it because He loves us!

Hebrews 12:12 Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.

Each one of us grows weary under the stresses and strains of our lives or of those around us; God wants us to be strengthened.

The more we get tired of doing things the less we want to do; God wants us to do more each day for Him.

So how do we do more without getting even more tired? How do we do anything without burning out?

We give our worries and our burdens to Christ; this means giving them to Him and trusting He will do something with them… not whipping them back as soon as we have given them to Him!

Numbers 14:14 And they will tell the inhabitants of this land about it. They have already heard that you, Lord, are with these people and that you, Lord, have been seen face to face, that your cloud stays over them, and that you go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

Ever thought about why certain things have been written down for us to remember? God wanted them written down for future generations to remember what He has done!

God wanted all the people who came into contact with the Israelites to hear about all the things God did for them; that way they would write stories about it too… so it could be remembered!

God wants us to know our past – look it up and be amazed with what God has done for us over the ages!
