Ecclesiastes 2:26 For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner

He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

When we follow Christ’s will in our lives we more often find that we are blessed with many things, not necessarily wealth but good things happen.

For those we go their own ways, Christ still allows men to gather as much as they work for… You work hard and you get good rewards…

But the rewards we gain from our own work are just that, rewards here on earth. God wants us to have so much more than just earthly rewards.

Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

A good person tries to make sure that their family will be looked after when they die; they try to make sure an inheritance is in place.

A greedy person may well try to spend as much as they can before they die, not leaving as much to their family as they could.

But the person who squanders things will end up losing it all to people who do not want to lose it.

Job was a man who had it all taken away but refused to believe that God was punishing him. God cares more than that!

Luke 12:20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’

God is the one who knows what is happening in our lives and He knows what is going to happen as well.

When we spend our time building up riches here on earth we are leaving behind the true riches He has laid up for us.

What profit is it to us to have the very best of everything if we are going to lose it all overnight?

How could we ever justify being rich if we know it will not get us to heaven?

Matthew 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

If you read some of the commentaries about this verse they will probably depress you!

I am not here to throw a wet rag over everything and tell you about the dire consequences of following your own paths of desire instead of following God – there should be enough people doing that to you already!

I am here to remind you of the greater goal in life – to follow Christ and live a life worth living. You can be different and still make a difference!

Just don’t ignore God…
