John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

By believing in the name of Jesus Christ as being the Son of God, by receiving Him as our Messiah, Saviour and Redeemer, we are filled with a glorious hope; but more than that we are given a wonderful inheritance.

We are given the inheritance of being called children of God, pardoned of our sins and sanctified by His blood.

Whilst it may be nice to think we obtain a physical inheritance from family, our spiritual inheritance is worth far more and endures for eternity rather than just a fleeting moment or two in physical life.

1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever

We live in a world where illness, abnormalities and all manner of things are transferred from one generation to the next; but by far the worst corruption is our sinful ways!

Unfortunately we are born into sinful ways because of our parentage; we are all sinners because of the original sin of man and nothing we do will allow us to escape.

But thanks to Christ and what He has done for us, we can be free from our sin if we are willing to accept Him as our Saviour. It is not what we do but what Christ has already done. Praise The Lord!

1 John 3:9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

When we accept Christ into our lives and into our hearts we cannot help but to be changed by this. We are not re-created as a perfect being as some may read this verse, but rather that the lust for sin should be left behind.

As worldly people we invite sin into our lives and play along with it as if it is a toy. But when we really invite Christ into our lives we turn our hearts against this temptation and vow to turn from sin.

It is this willingness to turn from sin that should drive our lives from that moment on; a willingness to follow Christ.

Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.

Have you ever got caught up in activities that are not lawful or not right? I know that I have been caught up in many things in my life and have turned a blind eye in many cases too; but each time my conscience told me that it was wrong!

When Jesus used these words it was to remind us that we do give in to the things around us through giving in to temptations, but those actions do not come from inside of us.

What we have in our hearts will come out and show itself and Jesus wants us to have His ways and His heart inside of our hearts.
