2 Peter 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,

It still amazes me that people will take some part of the bible and try to make it support their own reasoning or interpretation instead of accepting the whole truth of God’s Word.

We take a single verse each day and bring you ‘good news’ (the gospel) as God directs through His Word and through scholars and preachers from the past who God has used incredibly.

God’s Word is exactly that, God’s Word, and not an example text by which we can make our own vain interpretations work just because we want our own way!

2 Corinthians 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

In order for a torch to be able to shine in the darkness it must have a source of energy that will allow the light to shine bright. Nowadays that is a case of putting a battery into the torch and switching it on!

But for us to be able to shine for others we need a source of energy that others do not have. That source then needs to feed the light that will shine forth.

That source is the Word of God. That light is our lives. Christ has given us the knowledge so that we can use that source to shine brightly in the world so others can find out that knowledge too.

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

Take note of that first word “Blessed”! Have you ever noticed how you never quite feel good enough when you are not walking with God?

Have you noticed that no matter how good life on this planet gets, it gets a whole lot better when God is in your life?

Let us stop living for this world and start living for Christ. If you want joy and peace, look to the author of joy and peace: Christ our Saviour!

Genesis 6:5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

What happens if you are following someone or something and you take your eyes off of your target for a short while? It may just be to wipe your eyes or clean your glasses or something small, but once you have lost sight of your target it can be very difficult to get it back!

God wants us to love Him with all our might so that we will not lose sight of Him. If we don’t concentrate we may well lose sight of His ways and lose track of our direction!

Once we lose direction it goes downhill a bit faster than we realise!
