Acts 4:4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
Jesus is the one who died for us. God had the right plan all set for us and He carried out that plan for us – because He loves us!
We are going to get many people who object to our beliefs, many people who try to quash the things we say about Christ and even some who get violent against us…
But if we are still willing to continue talking about Christ, He will be able to use us to reach out to more people and allow them to come forward and receive the free gift of eternal life He has promised us.
Stand up for those who are still undecided!

Acts 3:17 Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers.
Just because you have done something wrong does not mean it is going to be a black mark against you for the rest of your life.
God is always willing to forgive you when you are willing to admit to your faults and to genuinely ask for that forgiveness!
What do you do when you find out something you have always done is actually wrong? I hope you try to give up doing whatever it is!
Trust in your holy, merciful God who is able and willing to forgive you for anything and everything.

Acts 3:14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you
Be careful for what you ask, you may just get exactly what you ask for!
We do not always see things in the proper light and we may well ask for something we assume will never happen just because you want to show someone up.
God listens to all of our prayers and He does answer us; whether we are listening to those answers of just blindly continuing on in our own strength is our choice.
Israel was given a choice – admit Jesus was the Messiah or bring a murderer back into society. Their pride or ignorance made them chose what turned out to be the greater evil. Stop and think.

Acts 3:5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
Be honest; how many times do you go to church and almost fall asleep whilst listening (or not) to the person up front ramble on about something?
I know it is very hard to listen to someone who makes everything sound uninteresting, but without listening to God’s Word we will fall short of the mark on learning what God wants in our lives.
Peter and John wanted to stop and make a difference. If the lame man had ignored them he would not have received healing. I’m sure this would have spurned him on to find out more about Christ too!
Make a difference today and stop to talk.

Acts 3:4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”
If you wanted to tell someone about Christ, what is the first thing you are going to do?
The first thing is going to be to engage in conversation with them or to gain their attention. It is easy enough standing up in front of a church and speaking out because people already expect you to do that…
But standing up and speaking to people outside of church takes courage, courage which the Holy Spirit gives you.
Be bold today and take a step forward to gain someone’s attention and show them how much Christ means to you!

Acts 2:46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
When the disciples began to realise just what Christ meant by us loving each other, they put aside their own lives, desires and expectations to live with and for each other.
There is something special to be said about living in a commune of any kind because you are living as Christ wanted us to live.
But if we all live apart from the world we may not get to reach out to the world as He also intended.
Be careful when you venture out into the temptations and live with gladness and simplicity of heart – as Christ wanted.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
When you first heard someone say it was as simple as telling someone you were sorry and asking for their forgiveness, what did you think?
I didn’t think much of it because I could not see God or this Holy Spirit people were talking about; all I saw was the religious acts people were performing.
But when God knew the time was right, He allowed me to see the truth from His Word and allowed me to know Him properly for the first time.
Take time and allow God to work in your heart today.

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”
It is the Holy Spirit who will convict people when they hear the word of God; but how will they hear the word of God unless we are willing to tell them?
Jesus gave us the command to go out into the world and tell people about God and about salvation; He did it for a reason.
Jesus continued to tell people about God all the time, even though He was and is Christ. If He was willing to put His own importance aside and tell people about God, we should be willing too.

Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.’
These are not the words of Peter who was speaking but the words of Joel the prophet actually written many years before Christ came to earth in human form.
Although Joel was giving prophecy of the judgement of the people, the locusts and the caterpillars, there was hope being portrayed when the Messiah was coming to earth.
We have written testimony of those times now so we can look forward to the further promises God has given us of the future times we have in store.
But there is still a promise of sad times for those who do not call on Christ.

Acts 2:8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?
When God sent the Holy Spirit to give the disciples something to speak about, it was not in half measures!
The Holy Spirit gave the disciples a whole new way of speaking, a way in which the people hearing all heard in their own dialect!
Nothing is impossible with Christ – as long as you are willing to give Him control and allow the Holy Spirit to really work with you and for you.

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
If you are willing to learn during your school life you will come out of school knowing a whole lot more than when you went in.
If you are willing to learn during your church life, then you too will come out knowing a whole lot more; you will learn more about God love, mercy and holiness.
When you apply that knowledge and have faith in what you have learned you will begin to see just how much God gives us through the Holy Spirit.
Allow the Spirit to work in your life daily!

Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Other than how the Holy Spirit works within people, of which there are many accounts, there are not too many verses describing the Holy Spirit in its presence.
If you have ever been caught in a violent wind storm and taken shelter in a building of some description? The sound of the storm fills the place…
I know God does not require a noisy environment or violent winds in which to enter the room, but sometimes God wants us to stop and take notice.
What does it take for you to stop and listen to God?

Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
When the remaining 11 disciples went back to Jerusalem, they met in the upper room to pray and seek guidance just as Jesus had taught them.
But it was not just the 11 men who went there, it was also the women (unspecified who) and also Mary the mother of Jesus.
Prayer should be an inclusive thing which brings people together and not something separating us from other because of sex, race or anything else.
God wants us to be of one accord, together, praying, seeking Him.

Acts 1:4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;
The disciples were told by Jesus to stay in Jerusalem until they heard from Him; His promise of the comforter.
If you are like me, you want God to do everything according to your timetable instead of His! I have learned the hard way to listen to Him and actually wait!
God may ask you to wait many years whilst He works in your heart to get it ready. Trust Him and believe He is doing what you need!

Revelation 15:3 They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvellous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!
Even the angels in Heaven sing of God’s glory and His Word. Moses gave so much guidance to the people, guidance from God. These are the words the angels will be singing in Heaven!
If they are singing them in heaven, don’t you think it is about time we started to listen to those words properly and not take them so lightly?
God’s Word is important – like the very air we breathe. Digest it!

Psalm 119:175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise You; And let Your judgments help me.
We would all probably like to live for a long time if we were able to live in good health and happy surroundings, but we live a limited lifespan.
So why not make the most of it and praise God each and every day we are alive with Him.
God gave us life in the beginning and He continues to promise us eternal life when we trust in Him. That should be enough to get you to praise Him every day…
But there is more! His love for us is real each and every day!

1 Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Just as we are told in Isaiah 53:6, we are the people who have gone astray like sheep walking away from their shepherd.
Now, a sheep will not normally do this because they prefer to remain safely by the shepherd – but we do take chances and wander off from our Saviour.
Jesus Christ has paid for our sins already, He is our Lord and Saviour; allow Him to be the overseer of your soul by giving Him more control in your life.

Ezekiel 34:31 “You are My flock, the flock of My pasture; you are men, and I am your God,” says the Lord God.
When we hear Jesus or God speaking about us being sheep it is not like He is describing us as a woolly wild animal; more figuratively than actually!
God has described us as being sheep because He is our shepherd. A shepherd will always look after the sheep.
Various other animals are largely left to fend for themselves, but sheep are most often looked after very closely.
The shepherd does not carry round a ton of food to deliver to the sheep but rather guides them to the best pastures where they can get the best food.

When Jesus told parables to the disciples, more often than not, He would give them a clear explanation; even if the disciples would only understand things later on.
God gives clear instructions, but we continue to listen with muffled ears – almost like we are trying to listen to Him with noise defenders over our ears!
Jesus is our Lord and our protector. Nothing can get to us if we listen and obey…
Unfortunately we do tend to go astray and run into all manner of problems; stop, look and listen!

Mark 14:16 So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.
How often do you actually listen to God? You may say, always… but just how much are you listening?
At first we may say we do listen but continue on to expand our own ideas upon what we have heard from God; is that really listening?
Listening to God is not a once off process but a continual willingness to follow God and His instructions in our day to day lives.
Listen to God each and every day; obey His commandments and listen for further instruction…
