Psalm 40:4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
Where do you look for blessings? May sound a silly question, but many times we look to worldly things to gain so called blessings instead of looking to God!
When we turn our back on God to follow other things, we should not expect God to bend the rules just so we can gain a few blessings!
Always look to God. Always seek His blessings through your worship for Him.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus replied: ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
When the Pharisees tried to trick Jesus into mistakes, they always got the truth told back to them which gave them things to think about!
Jesus told them the greatest commandment was to love God with everything we have!
We need to set aside our love for worldly things and give God a bit more praise – that way we get closer to loving Him with everything!

Psalm 128:1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.
To fear the Lord does not necessarily mean to tremble at the sound of His voice of command.
To fear God means to have absolute respect and love for God.
When we truly love and respect God, we listen to His commandments, and we try to obey them.
Blessings come from listening to others and obeying what they are encouraging – God is pleased when we do listen and obey.

John 6:57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
When Jesus was trying to explain how important it was He should give His life for each of us, He needed to say it many different ways!
Never before had anyone stood up and said everything depended on them – but if He just said that, the disciples may not have believed Him!
God sent Jesus who lived for God. Jesus sent the disciples who lived for Jesus. So should we!

Mark 6:49 but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out,
What will it take you to truly believe from the bottom of your heart God is looking out for you?
Sometimes we do lose track of how much God does for us and because of that our faith is not as firm and full as it should be.
The disciples needed a jolt and Christ gave it to them. Do you really need to have things happen in your life before you believe all you see and read about from your bibles?

Acts 5:14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.
When the disciple went forward as true servants of Christ, they stood by their faith and believed God would answer their prayers.
They did not wish to riches or wealth, but for people to get to know their special relationship they had with Christ.
God was pleased with them and stood by their prayers, healing the sick and blessing the poor.

Proverbs 18:15 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.
Wisdom comes to those who seek it diligently; as we seek out knowledge and meditate on it, we grow in wisdom.
God has given us a mind which is far more discerning than any other creature – this is why He gave us dominion over everything.
How we treat everything is a direct measure of the wisdom, or lack of wisdom we are gaining.

Proverbs 20:4 Sluggards do not plough in season; so at harvest time they look but find nothing.
I'm afraid I am guilty of putting things off when I don't want to be bothered with the hard work which goes with the task I'm avoiding!
This reminder is to all of us to do the work when it has to be done and not leaving things until the next day, week or whenever.
Jesus did not put things off unless He knew they needed to be delayed; follow Christ's example and get things done here and now!

Proverbs 22:2 Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all.
No matter how you try to split the world up; be in by race, colour, creed, location, sex, whatever... God is our maker!
He created each one of us and so we are all His children in one way or another.
We have the choice as to whether we accept this and ask Him to be our Father, or ignore it and try do things by ourselves in this corrupt world!

Psalms 98:1 Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvellous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
When was the last time you thanked God for what He is doing in your life... I mean, really thanked Him!
Sometimes we just get to say the words and don't get to feel it in our hearts – so stop for a moment and give God the glory for what He is doing in your life now.
God has done everything in a just and holy way. We don't always see it because we are too constrained by the deceitful ways of the world.
Open your eyes and heart to see all He is doing.

Deuteronomy 4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.
When Moses had to give the people explanations from God as to what to do, He was given very strict instructions which had to be explained in full – and remembered.
Nowadays we have this all written down in our Bibles so we can refer back to things all the time with ease... and we also have a new way of life!
Back then the instructions were strict because the people had to change their ways and learn to live for God.
We now have this all as examples for us to live by – don't ignore it!

Psalm 96:9 Worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.
If we are not willing to submit to God and His ways, then we are fighting our own battles against odds we cannot comprehend.
When we turn away from self-pride and humble ourselves before God, we invite the power and might of God to be by our sides.
Invite God to show you His power and might by submitting to His will in your life...

Psalm 132:1 Lord, remember David and all his self-denial.
When we study all King David did, we find a raft of information about how he loved God, but also quite a bit of information about the mistakes he made in his life!
But, despite all his mistakes, he would always come round to admitting them and asking God for forgiveness.
If we deny our pride, greed and desires, we will be able to focus more on God and move forward with Him being at the centre of our lives!

Proverbs 26:20 Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down.
One of the easiest traps to fall into is to contribute to the gossiper's discussion!
One of the hardest traps is sometimes to avoid contributing to the gossiper's conversation!
We need to think about the people around us and only share the truth with others. By sharing anything other than the truth, we are adding wood to the fire which is gossip!

Psalm 143:1 Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.
How many times do you pray for things each day? God teaches us to pray all the time and to ask for things we need – how's your faith?
God has also promised to supply our needs and to answer our prayers – we need to have faith.
God is righteous and faithful to answer our prayers – we need to believe He will answer!

Mark 9:24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!’
What this man said to Jesus was the absolute truth... He did have faith, but he was doubting at this moment!
Sometimes we go to ask for prayer from someone and we have our doubts their prayer can do anything; maybe because they are not the pastor, deacon or whatever!
We need to remember it is God who answers our prayers, no matter where they come from or who is acting on our behalf!

Psalm 147:4 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
How many stars can you name? How many of them are actually galaxies or planets instead?
If you have ever been able to go out in the darkest night to see the stars, you will know just how many of them there are... and God knows each one by name!
There is nothing our God cannot do and nothing our God does not know.
Put you faith and trust in Him.

God wants each of us to have the right person; wait on Him and listen to His guidance as He tries to show you that right person!

God has given you special gifts to do things – that may be singing, writing, engineering, photography, even a spot like swimming...
Use what God has given you to praise Him!

Ezra 3:7 Then they gave money to the masons and carpenters, and gave food and drink and olive oil to the people of Sidon and Tyre, so that they would bring cedar logs by sea from Lebanon to Joppa, as authorised by Cyrus king of Persia.
What do you have which could be used to help the church grow? Why do we always think of money?
We have got so many different talents which can be used in church (and outside) which could help the church grow – we need to focus on growing the church and not how much it will cost to grow!
Set aside a little time today to think what you could do to encourage others to come to church or to enjoy church more!
