Hebrews 12:10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.
When we step out of line, our parents or guardians step in to discipline us to try and stop us going off the rails again; but this only lasts a short while.
The older we become, the less our parents get involved and the more we have to fend for ourselves and try to stay within the law.
But all this time, God is watching over us and trying to guide us in His ways which are the best ways for us – how much we listen and obey shapes our lives!

Psalms 97:12 Rejoice in the LORD, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.
We must rejoice in Christ, our Saviour; He is the physical embodiment of God with all His power and righteousness!
Give thanks to Christ today for all He has done in the past, all He is doing right now and all He is still going to do.
It did not stop with the creation of the world. It did not stop with His birth. It did not stop with His death and resurrection.
It only just begins when He comes back to take us with Him!

Psalms 103:1 Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
What do you do when things go right for you – do you turn and praise God for what He has done?
What about when things are bad? Are you still willing to praise God for all He has done and all He can do?
We need to keep a constant view of praising God in our lives, not just when things are good, but all the time!

Psalms 30:2 LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.
When you are in trouble or are full of stress, to whom do you turn and ask for help?
The psalmist here turned to God, his Father, the author of peace – and so should we!
When we cry out for help, God is going to do something. We may not like the way He does it, and we may not even agree with what He does… but He is the one who knows what is best for each of us!

Luke 17:15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice.
What do you do when you realise God has done something for you? Do you just carry on doing what you do like the 9 leapers, or do you stand out from the crowd and do as this one leaper did?
We need to give God the glory as soon as we realise He has done something for us – not wait until we are absolutely sure it couldn’t have been anything and anyone else!
God may be using the people around you to accomplish His will in your life – acknowledge Him for all He does!

Matthew 8:4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
Jesus did not seek attention for the miracles He did but rather wanted the right people to receive the truth at the right time.
When Jesus healed this man of Leprosy, He wanted the priest to know the power of God; He knew the priest needed to see the result of God’s power!
What we do with what God gives us and tells us will shape who we are – we could do exactly as God says we should, but most often we too will go and tell others about God and His power before we follow His instructions to us… the important parts being e need to follow God’s instructions!

Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
Our access to God is through the Spirit, whom God, in the form of Jesus Christ, ensured we would have!
I love the way God has been with us from the beginning and every step of the way in our lives – even when we did not see, hear or know of Him.
I thank God that I am able to continue sharing my love and passion for Him; without Him and the doctors He made sure where in the right places at the right time, I fear I would not be here today. What a year!

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
There are always times in our lives when we just don’t know what to say – so we say nothing, hoping for some inspiration from somewhere!
The Holy Spirit is with us constantly, trying to tell us what to say through our spirits – we just need to listen through our spirits…
When we don’t know what to say to God, stop and listen; the Holy Spirit is trying to guide us in our ways and our prayers too.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
When Jesus said He would leave behind a witness or a guide for us, He meant the Holy Spirit; a spirit who talks to us through our spirits.
So if you don’t hear an audible voice speaking to you, telling you which way to go, don’t worry because most of us don’t get to hear audible voices!
We cannot guide ourselves – even our spirits cannot guide us by themselves. We need God’s help and it is given to us through the Holy Spirit communing with our spirits.

Galatians 3:26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith
We are not children of God by nature because we are sinful by nature; but we are children of God because of His Son Jesus Christ who came to earth to live and die as a human being amongst us and to be raised up after death to defeat our sinful nature once and for all.
The only problem for us is to believe this to be true and accept it in our hearts.
It is not an automatic birth right to get a free pass to heaven – we must make the choice to accept Jesus as our Saviour, to acknowledge what we have done wrong against God and to ask for forgiveness.

Acts 11:18 When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”
After hearing about the Holy Spirit pouring out on the gentiles after Peter spoke to the people, they were more than willing to give God the glory so they too would be covered by the spirit!
No more complaining, no more objecting, just full acceptance that Jesus was not leaving anyone out of this glorious gift He had given to us.
This is all received in faith! Jesus had returned to be with God in heaven and now the disciples, apostles and anyone will to spread the good news, were all doing exactly that!
Good News to Everyone!

Luke 2:20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
When the shepherds had learned of the good news of Christ’s birth and had seen the baby in the manger as predicted, they went back to their fields…
But they where not quiet about what they had seen, they broadcast the fact giving glory to God and their Messiah who they had worship in the stable.
They repeated what they had heard, not just from the angel, but also what they had heard from Joseph and Mary; after all, they had seen it with their own eyes.

Luke 2:11 Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
We are probably not celebrating the birth of Jesus on the correct day because we do not know the exact day; but we know it happened!
The shepherds, some of the lowest people in society, were among the first to be told of the birth of the Messiah; not in prophesy but in real time!
From this day forward Jesus was going to be in human form amongst us to show us the direction and the truth.
A very Merry Christmas to you all with Christ’s richest blessings!

Matthew 2:4 When he had called together all the people’s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born.
God had made a promise a child would be born in the City of David (Bethlehem) and nothing was going to stop that from happening!
Mankind, in the form of Herod and others, would try to prevent this from happening because they felt threatened or jealous!
Nothing man can do will stop the will of God happening, not even priests or kings!
Trust God and look forward to celebrations tomorrow!

Micah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”
This is just one of the prophesies of Jesus being born in Bethlehem; one which also highlights the plight of the people of Judea.
No matter what would happen to the people of Judea, God would make sure the linage would be kept and the right people would be in the right place at the right time for Jesus to be born!
If God can do these sort of things, we know He can do so much more in our lives than we expect!

Luke 2:4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.
Some of us like to walk for pleasure – but this sort of journey which Joseph and Mary had to endure would have been arduous!
It would probably have taken them from four to seven days depending on how much they could have travelled each day with Mary being heavily pregnant at this time.
The prophesies had indicated Jesus would be born in Bethlehem and God made sure Mary was able to make that journey before the baby was born!

Psalm 119:9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
God knows we are going to fall short of the law at some stage in our lives, but He also knows we are going to need those same laws to teach us how to live.
Instruction manuals are great if you get to read them and follow the advice in them – our bible are more than instruction manuals for our lives!
Jesus came into this world to show us the right way to live and to share that with people so they could spread the word.
God inspired the right people to write down those words so we would have them to be inspired by too.

John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
When Jesus was preparing Himself for all He had to endure, He made sure everyone was included in his prayers; here the disciples are targeted.
Jesus wants to make sure the disciples continue to believe in the truth and to share the truth; He also wants things to be written down for others to be able to read the truth.
What a powerful prayer – that we should not just be sanctified but that we should be able to spread the word because of it being written down by men of God at that time!

Psalms 25:5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and my hope is in you all day long.
This is something we should be praying every day!
Our bibles contain what we believe is the Word of God; whilst it may well be written by human hands and hence have human mistakes, God is still here and wants us to be taught the truth.
If we are willing to wait for answers, our prayers can be lifted, and we can get answers for those prayers.
Jesus Christ came to give us salvation and a way through which our prayers will reach God and be answered!

Galatians 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
If we were sheep, we would tend to follow the shepherd because they are the one’s looking out for us and trying to keep us safe – we have learned to trust them.
If we were blind, we would have to trust whoever or whatever is leading us – again we would learn to trust them fully.
As humans we are like blind sheep; we need to be led by someone we trust and someone who is always going to keep us safe. Christ is our shepherd and the Holy Spirit is our guide – learn to trust them entirely!
