John 15:9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

What makes you stick around others or in your community? Is it not love which is at the centre of this all?

Where does that love come from and what keeps it going?

Jesus came to live amongst us and to encourage us to love one another just as He loved us, just as the Father loved us and Him.

No matter what happens in this world and to the people around us, we need to focus on this love and allow Christ’s love to spread further than our wants...

Matthew 13:51 “Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked. “Yes,” they replied.

How often do you check up on people to make sure they have understood what you have been trying to tell them?

I faced two types of history teacher in school, one who would give us a lot of information, only once, and one who would repeat stuff. I never remember what the first one said...

If we say something and never really follow it up, people will quickly forget what we have said. But if you are willing to follow it up and allow them to grasp the whole story, then they will remember things more.

Psalm 119:121 I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors.

We live in a world where all manner of things go wrong, maybe not because we are doing anything wrong but because others are doing something wrong.

We get caught up in issues beyond our control and sometimes feel trapped in situations we cannot escape from…

But the one thing we can always do is to call out to God, no matter where we are or how we feel, we can call out to Him!

Instead of calling out for all your troubles to be dissolved, how about calling out for guidance through your problems...

Jeremiah 9:1 Oh, that my head were a spring of water and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would weep day and night for the slain of my people.

What do you think about the people in your community? No, really, how do you feel about them?

When I hear something bad has happened in a local community, my heart goes out to them because they are all affected by what happens.

The more we connect with our communities, the more we get involved with people’s lives and the more we can love them for who they are.

This is what God wants us to do – get involved and love like you mean it!
