Isaiah 43:19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

This is the key verse which spurred me into action to do more for young people so they would not miss out on hearing the gospel message.

Many churches had become quite inward looking, not by conscious choice but simply because they could not see the opportunities being presented. A generation was missing out!

Don’t allow your own comfort blank out the need of those around you. God still wants you to reach out – even now!

John 3:30 He must become greater; I must become less.

I just love the way John ends this word – He had become quite famous for baptising so many people outside the city at the river and he knew it!

But he also knew this was going to be nothing in comparison to what Jesus was going to be like. He knew his place and knew just whom Jesus was and is!

We need to know when to stop and allow Jesus to take control. Control can be a very powerful thing and one which can corrupt us so easily…

Step aside and allow God to take the reigns!

John 3:27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven...”

Why don’t I get what I think I should have in my life? Why am I still having issues with life? Why can’t it all be smooth sailing now I’m a Christian?

We often mix up what we want in life with what we need in life and we tend to stretch what we want to make it look like we need it…

God knows exactly what we need and when we need it – He is not going to part the river when there is a perfectly good bridge for us to use…

Listen to where God calls you and try to obey.

Joshua 3:16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

When we talk about the parting of the sea we almost always refer to the part in Exodus when Moses led the people out of Egypt – but it was not the only time this happened!

When Joshua was to lead the people across the Jordan river it had to be done again – but this time if a different place with different results.

The priests were to carry the ark of the covenant before the people and it would clear the way, just as God had used it to clear the way through wars and dry land.

The priests stood in the middle of the river whilst everyone walked across on dry ground! What a God we have!
