Psalm 62:9 Surely men of low degree are a vapour, Men of high degree are a lie; If they are weighed on the scales, They are altogether lighter than vapour.

We like to think we have classes of people from the working classes through to the nobility; but in fact each one of us is a person.

Many people will not give down-and-out people a second thought or will totally ignore beggars on the street just because they look different.

We are so fickle in our world and yet Christ is able to look through that all and judge us according to what we are inside rather than the outward appearance.

Job 11:11 For He knows deceitful men; He sees wickedness also. Will He not then consider it?

We cannot hide things from God because He knows and sees all. That may well be a frightening thought for many people but don’t think about the consequences of your actions; rather think about how God feels about what He can see.

Think about how you feel when you see someone doing something wrong. Think about how you feel when you see someone steal something. Think about how you feel when you see someone break the rules.

Now imagine if that person is your best friend. That is getting close to how God feels.

Psalm 94:11 The Lord knows the thoughts of man, That they are futile.

Our deep thoughts about wisdom, theology, philosophy and other intellectually focused things are but nothing compared to God’s thoughts for us.

We may like to think our deep musings of all thinks like that are highly sought after or deeper and more meaningful than others people, but they are nothing compared to God’s thoughts.

We like to think of ourselves as highly intellectual because God said we should be overseers of the land; we may be in comparison to the other mammals and animals, but not in comparison to God.

And yet God’s thoughts for us are deeper than this all!

Psalm 139:18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

We can never really understand just how much God loves us or how much He thinks of us, but the psalmist tries to give us a bit of an insight.

If we try to count the number of thoughts God has of us they would far outnumber the grains of sand on a beach.

Whilst that may sound like a bit of a dream, no matter whether we are awake or asleep, God continues to be with us. No thought is too great for Him. No dream too high for Him.
