Psalm 119:114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.

As very young children we have probably all played some version of tag and named a place where we are safe from being caught; that place where we all ran to so we could be safe from all harm.

God has His arms wide open waiting for us to run back into His arms where we can be safe from everything forever!

And just in case we lose our way, He gave us His Word so that we have instruction, direction and encouragement to search Him our in our busy lives!

Psalm 119:111 Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

One of the things that I find amazing as I teach others about God is that the bible is still the only tool that we actually need.

Yes there are all sorts of things that I use to teach with, games, computers, props and even other people; but it is the Word of God that brings delight to others.

If people ever say that they come to one of my clubs I will correct them because they come to be with God, not with me. I am just a tool used by our awesome God.

I am proud to say that I teach from the bible, His Word!

Psalm 119:72 The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.

One of the best ways of accepting a good slap is studying the Word of God! That may sound counterproductive because we never go out looking to be punished in any way, but think a little.

God has been trying to teach mankind about all the pitfalls in life for a long time. Much of that time we have ignored what He has been saying.

What better way than to have it all written down so that He can show us that He has been trying over and over again.

God’s Word is the living word of God. It is not just a piece of history and it is not just something to look forward to. It is all of the past, present and future for us all!

Psalm 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.

Sometimes we have to be “slapped” so that we will stop and listen! And yes it does work when someone gives you a slap to make you stop and listen!

But the more we live with God the more we should realise that it is not just the physical slaps we get that should shape our lives. Listening to God will open your eyes even more.

When something goes wrong we should not just ignore it and move on but think a little before moving on. Don’t get stuck up in all your failures, but equally, don’t ignore them!

God works in all aspects of our lives so we should be listening to Him in all aspects as well!
