Matthew 13:15 For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.”

It is sad to see so many people turn their backs on God when something goes wrong in the world. It is sad to see so many people stay out of church because they think other things are more important.

Just like the people grew cold and far from God back then, people today are growing colder and further from God through their own choices.

God wants us to be close so that we can hear His Word, feed on His Word and accept His love.

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.

There are so many times when we lift up our prayers and expect God to answer them no matter what. There are so many times when we turn round and blame God for what has happened in our lives.

But how many times do we examine our own lives and see if we are the reason why God cannot come closer to us? Sometimes we just need to sort ourselves out first of all so that we can draw closer.

I am not talking about saying sorry for the way you have been acting and then giving it to God and allowing Him to help sort things out.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.

Never think for one second that God does not have the power to destroy evil, take out Satan, remove sin and everything else this instant! It is His choice not to do this right now…

If God removed it all or left us to fend for ourselves after one last stand then we would be nothing. It is God alone that upholds the heavens so that we may continue to live on planet earth.

God always hears our prayers and always answers in the manner that is best for us. Let us trust Him and believe Him and wait with patience as He has asked.

Judges 6:13 Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

Gideon had just been called a mighty man of valour before he replied with these words. Yes he was brave and active in spirit and yet he still questioned things that happened. His faith had not yet been bolstered.

Too often we know that we too should be trusting and relying on God but we give in to the fears and we allow our lack of faith to rise up instead of fully trusting God.

It is God who has the ultimate knowledge about everything; we do need to step up and trust Him totally. We do not know His plans and we should not question them.
