Daniel 3:29 Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

I don’t know what the hottest place is that you have seen or even been in. I can think of some pretty hot days I have experienced in Africa but nothing will ever get close to the heat that was belching out of this furnace on this day.

The guards who tossed the three men into the furnace were consumed by the fire as the stood close to it; and yet God made sure that they were not touched even by the smell of the fire!

God is awesome! Sometimes we just need to be reminded!

John 19:30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

How long will you continue to do things for God? How long will you continue to try to uphold God’s Law? What do you use as a benchmark for what you should do?

So many questions but by reading our bibles we can clearly see what the answer should be as Jesus has given us the ultimate example of what we need to aim for.

Christ continued to do everything that had to be done right up until the last item on the agenda had been completed, then He said “It is finished!” and laid down His life there and then.

John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

Is Jesus your example or do you just see Him as your Lord? Christ came down to earth to live and die as a man so that he could be a fuller example for us.

In His ministry He gave us many examples of how we should live and reminded us that we do need to live for God and not for ourselves. It is God who should be getting all the glory and not us.

Jesus came to do and follow the will of God the Father because that is what God had planned from the beginning; trying to go against God’s will is just not going to work – working with God will always work!

John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

Though our salvation does not rely on us being able to keep God’s commandments it is of great importance to us that we aim to do so to ensure that they are observed by us.

If we simply ignored them because we are saved by His grace then we make them of no affect; but by keeping them we bring them to our minds and hearts every day, bringing Christ closer to our hearts as we do.

God wants to show us His love and when we walk closer with Him by observing His law we will find that He can do more for us as well.
