1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

God has shown us just how much He loves us by allowing His Son to come and give His life for us on the cross; enabling us to gain access to eternal life with Him in heaven.

Should we not take a leaf out of His book and try to do the same – not give our life on a cross for someone else, but to start by loving them without reservation.

Start the whole cycle by loving them first of all and see how God will change things around you.

1 John 2:8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

When we accept Christ into our lives, we do change, be it consciously or subconsciously. Whether we go the whole hog or just a little change is really up to us!

God would like us to be as much like Jesus as we can be, but our struggle with our old lives and the changes this brings in mean we do vary in how much we change.

Trust Christ to make the change as much as possible in you and help you to make it permanent – without Him it may well fail on the first day…

Titus 2:6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.

Have you ever stopped to think about where you learned about many of the things you know in life? It was probably mostly from the people around you rather than through books and instructions…

We set examples for others to follow without realising just how much we affect their lives! If we are not careful about how we live, others are going to follow the example they see rather than the example you want them to hear!

Be a good person and people will notice! Lead by example!

Hebrews 5:12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!

How long does it take for you to understand parts of the bible? How many time do people have to explain things before you get it?

It takes us different times because we are all different people with different minds – we do not all learn in the same manner or the same speed.

Take in what you can understand and at the speed you can – don’t get upset you cannot keep up with others of that you will not be able to tell others about what you have just heard.

God will open up His word to you through the right people at the right time.

Isaiah 28:11 Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people,

When we come up with excuses like “but I don’t understand the language the bible is written in”, God has already given us the answer!

No matter what walk in life we are from, God will find a way to speak to us through other people. If it has to be in a different language or through a different media, God will speak.

Who would have though about something like the internet in the day of Jesus? What is going to be the next great way in which we spread God’s Word – and spread it we must…

1 Corinthians 14:19 But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.

It is better to say little which will be understood by all, than to get up and speak for an hour using words people will not understand.

It may well be you think you are passing on knowledge to others which is important, but if they do not get it, then it is no longer important!

God’s word may seem difficult to understand; it was written in a different language in a different time – let us read His Word in language we understand, but make sure it is the truth!

Habakkuk 2:2 Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.

Have you ever wondered why God made sure His Word would be written down for us to read? Have you ever wondered why people get up and talk about God’s Word?

To pass it on to the next person, so we can all know the same God!

Use simple language. Use the truth. Use whatever God gives you to tell the next person about Him and how special He is in your own life. It will make a difference!

Hebrews 6:15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.

How patiently do you wait on God for the things He has promised? If you are like me, not long enough in many cases!

I know we are taught to love God, to love each other, and to wait patiently for God to do things after we pray… but we are human and we do have a limited span in which we think and live.

God knows this. God knows how long we will live. God knows the best time for everything in our lives. Wait patiently and expectantly knowing He is working for the best in our lives, no matter what!

Isaiah 52:6 Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.”

Do you ever wonder how you are going to tell the difference between what others say and what God says? Do you feel too full of the junk people are saying about God to know the difference anymore?

Are you willing to stop and listen? God has promised we will be able to tell the difference between what others say and what He says when we listen; just like the blind man and the woman at the well were able to identify Christ through what He said!

Stop and listen out for God – you will know His words!

John 4:26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

We may think God is not going to consider us because of what we have done in our past; but that is totally wrong. God knows what we have done and knows all of our issues.

We need to stop and call out to Him. This woman at the well was too ashamed to come out during normal hours because of her lifestyle, but God was waiting for her.

God is waiting for each of us to make a simple call to Him and wait for His answer. He is willing and waiting; are you willing and waiting too?

John 9:37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”

We can only image what it would have been like to see Jesus face to face; but then imagine whether you would have been one to believe Him or reject Him?

Is your ‘faith’ based on the number of people doing one thing, or based on a personal relationship you have with Christ?

Make sure you have a right relationship with Christ so you can have the joy of knowing Him face to face!

Isaiah 42:20 You have seen many things, but you pay no attention; your ears are open, but you do not listen.

How many times have you been to church, a small group, prayers, meetings, etc and not actually listened to what was going on?

I must admit to being in church often and being too tired to listen or thinking about something else and missed the point of the teaching.

When we gather as Christians, we should be listening to each other and teaching each other as best we can – encouraging each other toward a better life with Christ!

Don’t close off Christ just because you are tired or bored!

Isaiah 2:6 You, Lord, have abandoned your people, the descendants of Jacob. They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and embrace pagan customs.

At the time when Christ was on earth, the Israelites were complaining about God forsaking them, leaving them and not looking after them…

But, in reality, people had turned to idols, silver and gold, land and belongings, their own rules… the list continues… they had left God out of their lives.

Nowadays we see much of the same thing happening again – people complaining about God not being here when in reality we are leaving God out of our daily lives!

Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

No matter what goes on in the world around us, no matter how much we get involved with things, we need to stop and think about this from time to time.

If we go about our lives in a big rush, we tend to leave all manner of things out of our lives; including partners and even God.

Take time out of your day today to stop for a while and just think about God and what He has done. Think of how you can get Him involved with your day today and invite Him along to everything!

Romans 8:22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

As each of the disciples got to know Christ and the truth about Christian living, they began to see just how much the world was crippled through lies and deceit.

We do need to stand up and support this world – it is the only one God has given us to live on and spoiling it now leads to bad lives for us!

Allow the whole world to sing its praises to God by setting it free with the truth in God’s Word. Stop people ruling the world and allow God to have His way!

Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Whilst some early versions of scripture may not have these words written in them, I believe them to be true.

Jesus knew the only way His Word was going to get to everybody was through us – too many people in high places were blocking the truth so they could get away with things.

Our societies are filled with people trying to cover up the truth, but also filled with people trying to share the truth.

Let’s get more people trying to share the truth so the truth can get to everybody!

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.

Was the grace of God ever hidden from people? Well, it may seem so when we look at our modern world!

The more people come up with good things to do, or at least things they like doing, the more they will go off and do such things leaving God behind.

Mankind does not like to admit to the truth when it can get away with a few “white lies” about things.

Stand up for the truth and allow God’s grace to fill this land as it was intended!

2 Corinthians 6:1 As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.

When people say they are going to be working for or with God, they should be doing exactly that!

But what happens to those who simply want to appease the people around them? They take in the words and ignore them because they are intent on doing their own things anyway.

They are the great pretenders of our time, being, as our bibles tell us, foolish! They are fools for rejecting the truth which is always given to them by God’s actual grace.

Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.

The Scribes and Pharisees had elevated themselves into such a position whereby they were rejecting God’s teachings in favour of their own!

“Shocking!” you may say, but how many of us do exactly that every day by saying what we say is right and not allowing God’s Word to show us the correct and righteous way!

They refused to be baptised because that would mean they would have to follow God’s ways. Our baptism should be the outward sign of the inner willingness to follow God!

Proverbs 1:25 since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke,

God calls us forward to be Christians, to be His flock, to be Children of God; we have the choice as to whether we listen to Him or we reject Him!

Far too often people simply ignore Christ and His teachings because it makes life a little simpler to handle. It is not the easy times in our lives which are going to shape us, but what we do in the tough times!

God will try and steer us in the right direction when we go off track. We probably will not like it because it means change in our lives; but He is trying to do a good thing!
