Matthew 15:11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.

How often have you had some sort of bad thoughts about someone just because of what they eat or how they eat? It’s disturbing even if it was only once!

Humans do tend to judge others all the time over silly things and Jesus points this out by saying it is not what goes in our mouths that makes us bad but what comes out of them!

Most of us find it hard to stop saying the wrong things; things which will hurt others or which are just plain evil. They just seem to slip out.

Jude 1:5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.

Parts of the bible may be hard to read because of events where God destroys people when we think He is all loving.

Even the most loving parent has to bring discipline to a child who has gone astray.

God is trying to prepare us through examples; giving us plenty of warning and time to get ourselves right with Him before He once again removes the evil from the earth. We need to listen to Him now!

Genesis 19:7 and said, “No, my friends. Don’t do this wicked thing.

This is taken from the account right before Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, when the people were being so wicked.

Lot lived in this wicked place. He knew the people were wicked and yet he was there and still called them his brothers or friends.

We do need to remind people they are loved by God and that love needs to start somewhere – let it start in you and spread to those around you.

God wants to forgive, but it is His choice to judge the guilty, not ours. We need to follow Christ’s words and love all people.

Genesis 20:17 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelek, his wife and his female slaves so they could have children again

I’m not sure I would have ended up being as calm as Abimelek seemed to be as depicted here in this chapter!

Abraham was scared for his life and the life of his wife – why he did things the way he did is very human!

We all make mistakes and we all get things terribly wrong – but when we open our hearts and confess our problems to God, His is willing and able to do so much more than we expect!

God answers prayers more than you realise.
