Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

It’s not just that Christ said He loved us or the fact He died for us. It is because this all happened before we even knew Him properly.

He has known us from the beginning and even though He knew how we would act in our lives, He still went ahead and gave His life for us!

I know I struggle with doing things for people when I know they are going to be rude, unkind or disrespectful toward me; but Christ still stepped forward in pure love.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

My first memory of this verse was learning it for confirmation classes when I was young; but the real treasure held in the verse only came to me when I was a few years older.

This is God’s one and only Son who was willingly given for us; that is how much God loves us and cares for us.

Being willing to give your own life for others is something easier said than done. Jesus had time to sit and think about what He was doing; it was not a spur of the moment reaction.

Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times.

Have you ever tried to purify or change something by applying heat to it? Simple things like making jam or fudge rely on a lot of heat being applied at the right amount to change the food being cooked.

Too much heat and the food will get burned. Too little heat and it will not change into what you are trying to make.

God has supplied us with just the right amount in our Bibles for us to get to know Him in the right way. Not too much that we get drowned in details and not too little that we lose sight of Him.

Think about how He could do that for the same words to be just right for so many people all around the world…

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

When someone says the Word of God is without error, how can we believe them knowing that the Bible was written by people?

The answer is that the words may well be penned by people but the inspiration came from God.

God is the one who will look after us, not God’s Word. You cannot expect God’s word to fill the place of God, but we can expect God to back up His word.

Through His power and grace we expect our faith to be rewarded and fulfilled.
