Joel 2:13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.

Making a show of praising God or submitting to God without truly meaning it in your heart is worthless in God’s sight because you are doing that for yourself and not for God.

Joel writes how we should secretly tear our hearts open to God instead of tearing our clothes so others can see what we do.

Make you requests know to God, but you don’t necessarily have to make them known in public.

God is listening most when you are most sincere.

Deuteronomy 4:29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

When Moses was given the Ten Commandments we were told to seek God with all our heart, strength and soul. This is echoed throughout our bibles because it is so very important.

To seek God means more than just making sure you keep up with your devotions or your bible reading.

Seeking God means trying to make sure He is involved with every aspect of your life; not just in times of need or when you want to praise Him.

Make God part of every decision before you make them.

Ezra 8:22 For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, “The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.”

When was the last time you said “God will help me” to someone and then went back to them and asked for help?

I know I have done this before on occasion and I know my faith is not all it should be at times.

Being ashamed of asking for help is one thing but being ashamed of God is entirely different.

Never think there is anything God cannot do, because He can do anything. It is often our own lack of faith which stops us. Ezra showed his faith and was rewarded!

Exodus 4:12 Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.

If God wanted to control everything we do and say I think He would have chosen just about anyone to lead the children of Israel. Instead, he chose Moses for a reason.

God would like to be in control of your life but He is not going to the puppet master and leave you to be the puppet!

God needs us to be who we are and to live as we do, He just wants us to listen to His will so we can live the best way possible.

Give God the honour and glory by allowing Him to guide you every step forward.
