Matthew 25:6 And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’

If you want to be prepared for an event which you know is going to happen on a specific date, you try to organise things so you are ready before or on that date.

But what happens when you do not know the exact date, like a birth of a child? You start to get ready when the date gets closer and remain prepared.

The Jews did not know when their Messiah would come. We do not know when Christ will return. We do not know the date at all.

What we can do is to get ready so no matter what date, whether during our lifespan of after it, we will be ready to enter into God’s kingdom with Christ!

Proverbs 20:4 The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.

What excuses do you make so you don’t have to do something that may be too much like hard work?

When hard work is knocking at our door we need to step forward and embrace it while we can because it will not be there for long.

If we open the door and find the work has moved on we will miss out on the fruit of the harvest, but if we open up on time and get to work properly we are going to find our silo is full when winter comes.

God is going to be the one who knocks on your door to see if you are awake and ready for the hard work. If we are not ready we will miss out.

Exodus 16:27 Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none.

When God wants us to do something He is going to provide for us according to what He has asked us to do. If we run off and try our own thing we may well find ourselves a bit stuck!

The people of Israel were given strict instructions to gather enough Mana on the sixth day so they would not have to gather on the seventh day.

When some ventured out on the seventh day they found nothing because that is not what God wanted them to do.

Be careful to listen properly to God to find out the instructions He has given you and not to follow your own will.

Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Have you ever wondered why this commandment does not simply say “keep the Sabbath holy” but starts with “Remember?”

The answer stares you in the face. We know the Sabbath is holy and we know it should be a time of rest. We just need to remember it!

God wants us to keep it holy, yes, but the first step is our remembrance of that fact.

Unless we first remember this commandment, we are not going to keep it. Sweeping it under the banner of modern world or any other excuse is not remembering it in the spirit.
