Mark 10:21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

What would you be willing to give away just so you can learn something new about God?

Would you be willing to give up your lifestyle just to learn about God?

Yes it is a harsh question to ask but one that is designed to make you think about how important God is in your own life.

When we say something about being with God, listening to Him, obeying Him or supporting Him, we had better make sure we are willing to do exactly that otherwise people will see right through us just as God does!

Deuteronomy 8:17 then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’

One of our traps we often fall into is lifting up our own praises for the wealth we have; when we do that we lose the truth about whose wealth is actually is.

What we have all around us belongs to God and we are His stewards for this all. If we are rich then it is because God is allowing us to be rich.

We could be very good with money and very good with things and yet still be poor in worldly terms because God can use us more in that way.

Trust God and honour Him for all He allows for you.

1 Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

It is very easy to talk about the people who have all the money and say how they should be giving it all away and being nice to people etc. But being there is very different!

I have never had more money than I can handle, but I have been through stages where I did have more than enough for me. Did I do the right thing with that money then? I am afraid no, I did not always do what was right.

God continues to give us things every day and we tend to take them for granted. Being more appreciative sometimes allows the giver to feel more like sharing…

Ecclesiastes 7:11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance, and profitable to those who see the sun.

When we gain wealth or are blessed with things we need some intelligence and wisdom in order to use those gifts correctly.

To make the most of those gifts we do have to use them and use them correctly; sometimes gaining from listening to others for the best way of using those gifts.

But we are people still. We are human beings. And that means getting out and being able to relax and enjoy yourself from time to time.

God set aside a day of rest for a reason – use that wisely too.
