John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

We probably heard all manner of stories yesterday about people dying and other strange stuff; to me the most important death we can ever remember is Christ’s death on the cross.

It was through love that He gave His own life. It was because of His great love to each one of us! There was no evil intent or hidden meaning, just a simple truth…

God knew that He could pay for our sins if He allowed His own Son to take our place. So He did. What love!

Hebrews 5:5 So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.”

I think it truly amazing that all the time that Christ spent on earth was not set aside to glorify Himself but rather to bring glory to God the Father.

Christ had every right to bring glory to Himself because He is who He is; but He chose to bring glory to God in heaven instead.

How much better a place would this world be if none of us would lift up our own stations higher than we ought to but would rather bring glory to The One True God.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Old Testament points toward Christ coming to be our Saviour. The New Testament bears that out and then points toward what is yet to come.

This is the same that has been told from the beginning and the same that will be told right up until God takes us home to be with Him!

Christ has fulfilled God’s promise that He would send us a Saviour. Our bibles are a historical and factual record of what has happened and what is to come. Read it. Believe it!

1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Each of us has a limited lifespan on earth, and each of the possessions we have too are limited. We may have a favourite bible, but the cover and pages soon wear out as we use it.

But the words that are held inside the bible will last forever because that is what God has promised us.

These are the words that Christ used to rebuke Satan and the same words that we need to learn to teach others with. This is the very word of God!
