Luke 16:13 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

Jesus warns us about the love of money in many places, both through parables and directly.

It is not money which is evil, but the love of it which is... If we run after money more than we run after God, then we are putting God after our riches...

Why not try give someone in need a boost instead of saving up to buy something you are yearning for?

Psalm 98:4 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;

How do you go about showing people you are happy about something?

How do you go about showing people you know someone famous?

How do you go about showing people you love them?

Are you willing to combine all of those ways to tell people about Jesus?

Psalm 27:14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

How many times have you called out to God to help you in the past?

How many of those times did you stop and wait for God to answer before rushing off and doing something else?

God wants to commune with us – which means we need to talk to Him, but also need to stop and wait for Him to talk back to us through whatever means He takes!

Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters – yes, even their own life – such a person cannot be my disciple.

Don’t think of these words as meaning “love a little less” instead of “hate” because that detracts from the true meaning of these words.

Christ is talking to the masses here and using these words to tell people one of the biggest obstacles to loving God is the so-called love some of us think of to do with families...

God wants us to love everyone, including friends and families, but to love them with Christian love and not family feud style “love!”
