Luke 3:38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

It is amazing to look at the timelines recorded in history showing the lineage of Mary and Joseph; to show just how God planned things all along!

It was not by accident things happened the way they did; it is not a chance happening we live on this planet! God created us!

The Jews are proud of their lineage because it shows them and us just how important we are – don’t let the end of year blues take anything away from you – you are a child of God!

Acts 17:28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

It is always good to compare the bible with the world and to compare the writers with other writings from the world…

Here we have two philosopher writings being referenced and they both look to a deity of some kind – because that is what we need in our lives.

God fulfils all needs and supports all beings. This is His world and His universe. Acknowledge Him for all He is and keep Him God of your life!

Psalm 100:3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Have you really owned and acknowledged Christ as your Saviour this year?

He is your Creator. He is your Good Shepherd. He is your Father. He is your Eternal Hope. He is your Foundation.

No matter how you describe God, no matter how you look at Him and no matter what you think of Him… He is Your God!

Psalm 79:13 Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you forever; from generation to generation we will proclaim your praise.

Did you remember Christ yesterday? Did you celebrate His birth? Yes, it is a time to be with family and friends and have a wonderful party… but don’t leave Christ out of it.

It is time for sales and other things, time for tidying up after the parties, time for resting up… but don’t forget Christ.

How about a few Christmas family favourite movies? How about a time of just sitting and watching TV… but don’t lose sight of Christ!

Luke 2:11 Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Jesus Christ came to us in the form of a baby, a human baby, a humble beginning for a completely awesome step for us all.

He did not enter into the world with a shout and great proclamation for all the richest people in the land – the first people told were the shepherds; just as He was coming to be our shepherd!

Listen to the story and learn just how special today really is!

Happy Christmas!

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

A shepherd will look after the flock and try to keep them all safe at all times.

A good shepherd will go one stage further and will put their life on the line for the sheep; putting in that extra energy to get it right!

Jesus Christ came to be our shepherd; not just any old shepherd but our Good Shepherd – one who will look out for us and lay His life down for us!

Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

Christ has rather a large flock – all of us! We are certainly not all the same. We do not all behave. We can be loving and we can be horrible and naughty…

But through it all, He continues to love us and tend for us in all circumstances.

He does not just look after us when the sun shines or when we pray a lot; He constantly is on the look out for us!

He gathers us all up as a single flock and tends to us!

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

David knew the scriptures; we know this because we are told it. But even so, the prophet of his time would have to come and remind him…

Yet David still called Christ his shepherd; the one who looked after him, guided him and protected him.

Why? Because he knew God could do anything – that had been proven to him on many occasions.

Why should we need anything else? Trust fully in God today!

Matthew 27:43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’

Jesus was mocked on the cross; people thought it was all over.

But what Jesus did was all for a purpose and He knew it had to be done for our sakes.

He allowed Himself to be hung as a common criminal, but He beat death and that moment by rising from the dead!

Jesus Christ proved our God can do anything – believe and trust!

Psalm 3:2 Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.”

The more people see us doing wrong, the more they will start to think of us in a similar manner to this!

People are judgemental, no matter how much you think they are fair or honest, we all judge people in our hearts or heads.

Christ is willing and able to forgive anything which we bring to Him. If we try and hide it from Him, we are only fooling ourselves; He wants us to bring forward our sins to lay them on His table.

Don’t ever think Christ cannot do something for you. Ask!

Psalm 4:4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.

We need to always remember God for what and who He is. Our all-powerful God. Stand in awe of Him for all He is!

When you have your quiet time, be it before bed or even in bed, stop and think about God. Talk to Him and speak with Him.

He wants to know you more, He wants you to know Him better – what better way than to stop and talk with Him about your day.

Stop what you are doing and talk with God…

Isaiah 8:15 Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.

It is not only your enemies and the evil people who will stumble and fall! When we try to go off on our own we will often stumble and fall…

Israel spent much of their time walking away from God and found that each time they would come up against hardships of one kind or another because the continued to ignore God’s warnings.

Many of those warnings still stand for us today and we ned to take care of our lives – especially our spiritual lives through which we commune with God.

Psalm 27:2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.

How many times have you prayed how something will not happen or how someone will not hurt you – only to forget about the prayer because you were fine in the end…

How many times have you sat down and thought about the prayers that have been answered even before you realised?

How many times have you forgotten to thank God for answering your prayers and keeping you safe?

Why not spend a moment and thank Him right now!

Daniel 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter.

Imagine standing before a magistrate, president, prime minister or queen and telling them your truth!

These three men were willing to stand before the king and say they believed in God and they wanted him to know just how powerful God is!

There is nothing our God cannot do and if we are willing to believe in Him and place our full trust and hope in Him, then we will find out just how awesome He is – even when we are here on earth!

Psalm 119:46 I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame

Are you willing to stand up and say something about God? Are you willing to sit down and tell someone else about God?

We all like to think our answer is yes, but so many of us find it difficult to step forward and do this!

Why? This is our God. This is what we believe in. This is what changed our world!

Step up and say something to someone. It does not have to be a whole sermon, just acknowledge Jesus as your Christ!

Luke 12:8 I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.

One of the most remarkable truths in our bibles is in this verse. Jesus Christ will personally tell God about our good sides!

It is not how much we have done wrong in the past, or how much we have missed out on, but simply the fact we acknowledged Jesus as our Christ – that is why He will acknowledge us as His child!

Just as Jesus praised the house of Israel before the angels in heaven, we too will get our praise when we follow God and obey Jesus our King!

Luke 12:7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

You can look around you and see how well God treats animals; you can also see how humans are not too good at looking after animals!

Now look around at people. Do you see how God is always trying to do the best for people and yet mankind continues to break down societies and even countries and in doing so destroys fellow human beings.

God loves each one of us more than we think; is it not time we shared in a bit of that love toward other human beings too?

Luke 15:4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

If people are willing to go out and look for an animal when it gets lost, why do they not look out for people who are lost?

I am not talking about the people who walk out into the jungle and get lost but the spiritually lost, those who need to find God in their lives.

If we are not reaching out our hands to those around us we know are lost, then we are ignoring human beings; just maybe we are treating animals better than humans…

Luke 15:2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

Jesus continued to tell the disciples and all those who were willing to listen about how we should love all people the same; of course we have favourites, but we do need to love all people.

The Jewish zealots did not want anyone outside of the twelve tribe to have any access to the Messiah – even though they were saying Jesus was not him!

Put aside racial differences and treat every human being as a child of God; you will see a very big difference in the world by looking at them through God’s eyes!

Galatians 2:12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group.

Is this a side of the old Peter coming through once again? Or is this something more? Debates will be had and we are not going to join in here…

When we do something with people outside of the church or from a difference church, we should be consistent in the way we act toward or with them.

Peter was not. Harsh words such as hypocrisy follow this verse!

Jesus was always the same to the people with Him and around Him, be it in front of Jews or in private. Be more like Jesus and don’t treat people differently just because they go to a different church!
