2 Corinthians 5:16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
When we take a single verse like this we can be forgiven for not understanding it, no matter which translation of the bible we use!
It can be hard to understand the scriptures unless we have someone explain them to us – which is what we should be doing with others too.
Don’t try to explain Christ in terms of human relationships or ways; He is the Son of God and we need to see Him as such!

John 4:48 ‘Unless you people see signs and wonders,’ Jesus told him, ‘you will never believe.’
Are you trapped inside this earthly cupboard where you believe you cannot escape because you have not seen the power of God with your own eyes?
Will you be able to take a small step forward in faith instead of having to witness things with your own eyes?
God knows He could perform a miracle so you will believe, but He would rather you take a leap of faith and trust Him before you have to see the physical proof.
Spiritual proof seems far more valuable to me!

John 5:11 But he replied, ‘The man who made me well said to me, “Pick up your mat and walk.”’
When you think about what God would say to you – what do you think of? Do you think of the grand quest He will send you on? Do you think of the mighty feat He will ask of you?
God does not want us all to be superheroes. He wants us to be humble and willing to obey – simple!
Jesus’ command to the man was simple “Pick up your mat and walk!”
Listen to what God is saying and not what you are dreaming of!

Isaiah 49:13 Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
God does not always speak through the thunderstorm and earthquakes in life, sometimes He will whisper something in your ear.
When we do submit to the Lord, He is willing and able to comfort us in ways which we cannot understand or think of; but He does!
The lord is always watching over us and wants to protect and comfort us all the time; be patient and wait...

John 5:43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.
How easily do you believe someone when they tell you things? How much persuasion does it take before you give in?
Jesus hit the nail on the head by telling people they would believe others when they stand up and talk about themselves, but many still do not believe Jesus who stood up for them.
Faith is believing in the unseen – believing Jesus came to give His life in our stead, just because He loves us so!

Psalm 34:17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
When was the last time you cried out to God and actually placed your trust in Him to answer your prayers?
I know it can be very hard to trust someone when you think your are in a corner with no way out – but God is able to do more than we know.
He is not just able to do the impossible, but He is willing to do so because we cry out to Him!

Psalm 7:1 Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me,
Are you willing to put your life in the hands of another person? Do you go to the front line as soon as there is a war on?
Jesus does not require us all to be martyrs or heroes; He does require faith and trust from us.
Will you step forward and ask Christ to be your shield?

Isaiah 43:18 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
How often do you look forward to good times when you are upset about something? How often can you smile when you are sad?
God wants to be able to get us smiling at all times, not because we must ignore the sad times, but because we can look forward to the good times.
It is right to be upset during sad times, but when it is right we should put those times behind us and focus on the new things ahead with God.

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
How far does your faith stretch? Has it been stretched to breaking point lately with all the things happening in the world today?
This Psalm was written by someone who had their own ups and downs with God, but someone who always came back to God and knew in his heart God would always be there.
Take these words to heart. Believe them. Follow their example. Trust in God!

John 8:21 Once more Jesus said to them, ‘I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.’
What would you do if someone said you were going to die in a war in two days time?
God wants us to make peace with Him and to ensure we believe in everything Jesus has done for us – otherwise we may well have to put up with the consequences of our sins.
Invite Christ into your life and live a life with Him every day to make sure you get to live with Him in Heaven one day!

John 8:42 Jesus said to them, ‘If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me.
Have you ever been told “if you loved me you wouldn’t do that!” or similar words?
I think most of us would relate to something like this because we have all done something wrong against someone we love, be it big or small.
God’s love for us goes beyond what our love can imagine. He continues to uphold His love despite our wrongdoings.
Just stop and love God openly!

John 8:52 Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.’
Can you imagine what the people must have thought when they heard Jesus say these words?
As a Christian I can relate to these words and I know Jesus was talking about the after-life when we get to spend eternity in Heaven with Him…
But to the people who have little or no faith or beliefs, these words must seem strange or unscientific.
There are many things in our bible which can cause confusion when taken alone – this is why God sends us out to tell people the stories, so we can explain them!

Psalm 18:3 I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.
I wonder if you have ever had to call out to God in desperation… How did He answer you?
I have called out to God on a few occasions now where my life was in peril – and every time He has answered me by keeping me safe from my enemies.
Placing your trust in God can be difficult at first – but once you do you see just how much He can do for you!

Psalm 121:2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
What many people fail to realise is our help comes from the Maker of Heaven and Earth!
When we accept He is the Creator of everything, we begin to see nothing is impossible with God!
How can we have doubts when we believe the Creator of everything is here to help us!

Luke 19:38 ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’
Can you imagine the consternation as the disciples shouted out about Jesus being King in the face of the Pharisees.
The Pharisees knew they had to obey the Romans in order to keep the peace and stay in power – at least by man's rules…
The disciples knew Jesus was their ultimate King because He came from God; nothing could demote Jesus in their hearts!

Isaiah 42:8 ‘I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.
God does not send in anybody or anything else to be the thing we should worship! We need to worship God alone!
God, being 3 parts in 1 God, means we need that worship to be aimed at Father, Son and Spirit!
It is useless to try and worship anything created by God because we are then worshipping what God has created instead of God!

Psalm 71:7 I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge.
Have you ever wondered why so many Psalms have King David calling out to be protected?
David made no secret about the time he spent calling out for God’s protection and strength. He knew God was his strong refuge!
Now we have all these words written down to encourage us by so we too can count God as our strong refuge!

Psalm 70:1 Hasten, O God, to save me; come quickly, Lord, to help me.
What are you going to do today to make the world a better place?
Who will you involve in your quest?
Will you make sure you have the right people at the right time to get things done?
Why not follows God’s instructions to ensure things are done properly instead!

Psalm 116:1 I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy.
Yesterday we called out for Jesus to hear us. Today we thank Him for hearing us and answering us!
This is how we should be living our lives with Christ, continually making sure He is involved in our every day lives, and continually praising Him for being involved!
Jesus does not leave us to fend for ourselves in the world, He continually tries to guide us and protect us…
Are you listening?

John 19:16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. So the soldiers took charge of Jesus.
Pilate gave in to the pressure of the crowds around him. He did so because he was not confident to do otherwise!
If we hold Jesus close to our hearts and allow Him to guide us, we can be confident we have it right…
It’s when we walk away from Christ we get to fear the world because the world suddenly becomes bigger than God in our eyes!
