Hebrews 7:11 If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood – and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood – why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron?
Jesus came because we needed to break free from the loop of having to offer sacrifices all the time for everything we do wrong.
Priests would have to offer sacrifices to cleanse themselves before they could offer sacrifices for others because they too have sinned.
Jesus offered Himself, sinless and perfect, to be the ultimate and final sacrifice for us all and for ever!

Acts 18:9 One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent.’
If we could listen clearly to God, then we would hear Him repeating these words to us as we face what the world throws at us!
God does not want us to fade silently into the shadows as we face people who want to mock or hurt us – He wants us to stand firm and continue telling people about God!
Jesus never stopped sharing His thoughts and feelings about God the Father – we shouldn’t stop either!

Psalm 47:7 For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise.
Pontius Pilot knew Jesus was special and wrote of him “King of the Jews.”
Jesus gave His life and rose again defeating death so we could know Him truly as our King of life and death, King of everything, King of our hearts.
We need to lift up our praises and worship to our King at all times to show the world just how special He really is!

Psalm 99:4 The King is mighty, he loves justice – you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right.
Our King of Kings, Christ, is very mighty and He loves justice. How do we know this? Because He laid down His life for us to bring justice to this place.
He knew mankind would continue to leave justice out of our lives. He knew He had to step up and make it so!
Right from the very beginning Christ has continued to uphold justice in the face of evil and wicked people.

Psalm 68:3 But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.
Just because we are good does not mean we will not have any problems or troubles…
But when we do obey God and follow His commandments, we draw parallels with the blessings God give us – so we see it as some sort of reward for being good…
God loves us no matter what! It is our choice to follow and obey God and that will ultimately please Him!

Psalm 113:7 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
The Lord is the one who stoops down to our level. He has no reason to do so others than He loves us.
He is the one who will raise up the poor from their position of lowliness and lift up the needy people from their pit of fire.
Step down from you high seat and allow Christ to guide you to the people who need something around you.

Acts 20:32 Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
It is not our job to clean or save people – it is our job to lead them to Christ and He will do the cleaning and saving!
Jesus wants us to be disciples – which means stepping forward and obeying Him. Those steps will be to reach out to the next disciple!
Jesus came from God to make disciples, who then are sent to make disciples, who then reach out to make disciples…
This is the will of God!

Psalm 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
King David was lamenting about how great his God was; David knew he had done things wrong and knew God still loved him!
God will not sit by and watch us get taken by evil when we have purposed our lives to love and worship Him!
David also knew God would make sure no corruption ever overcame Jesus when He was on earth, even when He died!

Psalm 103:1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Each time I read these words I want to sing the song four of us sang in church… and yes that song pre-dated Matt Redman’s 10,000 reasons…
This is something we have been encouraged to do for many years – to praise God or to Bless Him…
Yesterday we celebrated our Queens 75 years of reigning… I’m sure she would support me in asking you to praise God, even on this special weekend for her!

Psalm 11:4 The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them.
Sometimes I read through some of the words in the bible and I wonder whether the writers have heard God correctly…
Then I think about the human mind and begin to see how easily we get things mixed up!
God is Holy. He cannot abide sin. Jesus is back in Heaven with God, but He still watches every move we make.

Psalm 104:4 He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.
One thing we often overlook is how God can and does use anything to reach out to others.
We may think we are nothing in the eyes of others, but God can use us to spread the Word!
Anything and everything we have is used by God to reach out to others – stop trying to limit God!

Psalm 123:2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy.
In any position of work or service, you depend on your boss to ensure you can continue to do your work as effectively as possible.
When God calls us into service, we should be willing to obey and trust Him to make sure we can continue to work effectively for Him!
God will ensure you are able to do what He asks because He alone knows what you are capable of given the right circumstances.

Psalm 4:1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
In order for God to answer your prayers, you have to lift up those prayers in the first place!
God is watching us and is always present, but if we don’t talk to Him, how are we being any different than non-believers?
Be different today and pray a bit more!

1 Corinthians 11:26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
If you are willing to step up to the mark Jesus is calling you to – then you are probably strong enough to endure many things when it comes to talking about Jesus!
When we act more faithfully and see the blessings Christ gives us, we tend to be encouraged and share more!
What are you waiting for? An invitation to go out and tell someone something about Jesus?

Psalm 132:11 The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke: ‘One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.
We can look back on words like these and see how they have come to pass; but too often we don’t apply the same logic to all the other words in our bibles!
God has made sure the words of the bible have come together so we can know what we have in store for us in the future.
God continues to keep His promises, promises made thousands of years ago!

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
As we creep closer and closer to hard times financially, we all start to worry about what we are going to eat and how we are going to afford the necessities to live by.
God does not encourage you to be blasé about things and ignore the problems which lie ahead, but equally we should not be thinking too far ahead…
God wants us to be careful for the things we have and plan for our futures but when things get out of reach, we should reach out in prayer and trust Him by listening.

Psalm 42:11 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God.
How many times have you been really worried about what is going to happen – like when you go to hospital in an ambulance…
Once again I was taken into hospital 11 days ago after being taken ill. Once again I placed my trust in Christ and the doctors. Once again I came out!
It is hard, especially when you have nearly died a few times before; but Christ’s faithfulness always comes through!

2 Kings 17:7 All this took place because the Israelites had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of Egypt from under the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They worshipped other gods
We see how Israel sinned many times over many years and how God got angry, not because they did little things wrong but because they were worshipping other gods.
But every time God was angry, He was also setting time aside to wait for them to return to Him.
God faithfully kept His promise to them no matter what happened even when they worshipped other gods.
That is the measure of God’s love for us!

Psalm 48:9 Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love.
Finding it difficult to focus on God’s Word? Have you tried finding a quiet spot to just stop and think?
Quite often our minds are racing full of things we should be doing and stopping to focus on the here and now can be difficult.
Taking time out of your day to stop and wait is a good place to be – it helps us to focus on the Holy Spirit and His guidance.

Psalm 119:35 Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.
When you go to a tourist attraction, do you walk around blindly or do you follow the guides who are there to help and explain things?
Why should we then walk blindly through life if we have ready access to someone who is willing and able to guide us in every step?
God wants us to listen to His guidance through the Holy Spirit...
