Matthew 26:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?

I wonder if you have ever been in a position where you have thought the people around you are just not supporting you like you think they should.

Jesus was in a position where He knew exactly what was going to happen very soon and He wanted to pray. Not just that but He wanted a bit of support whilst praying.

If someone needs prayers then step forward and give them the support they need; they may not know just how much they need the support until it is there!

1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

Some of the disciples seemed to think they were living in the end times – or did they?

Jesus taught them they need to be ever ready and watchful because they have no idea when He is going to return. They were obeying His word!

If we are going to say Christ cannot return yet because of this and because of that then we are fooling ourselves.

Lift up your prayers as if they may be your last prayers. Lift up your worship like it is your last worship. Live your life because it is your last life!

Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.

Just as we need to watch out for the evil people and things in this world, we also have to watch out for the promises God has made to us.

He has promised Christ will return some day and we have to be sure we are in a fit state for that to happen.

Jesus was always looking out for other people and always in communion with God; we need to take a leaf from His book and apply that in our lives.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

I know I have missed out on getting some of the devotionals out on time recently; not just because of technical hitches but because I have been too tied up in others things!

Just because we are Christians does not mean we are going to get everything right all of the time.

Just because we have Christ’s protection does not mean we will accept it and be protected all the time.

Being vigilant is part of our Christian walk and we should not step away from the mark!
