Luke 12:21 “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

How rich would you like to be? It is a valid question because we all need some sort of income in order to live in society…

How we treat that quest to get the riches that we need is going to change our lives from the inside.

If our aim is to get money to spend, then that is what will happen one way or the other. If our aim is to spend, then we are always seeking money.

When we die, our money is no longer ours… Build up something you can keep!

Proverbs 18:11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem.

When we try to build up our own protective barriers or build ourselves up what we gain can be exhilarating and can make us feel really good.

But what does it actually gain us in the bigger picture? Not a lot.

We like to think that the better we feel about something the better we will be doing it or the more we can gain out of it.

God does not look on the outward appearance or on the inner feelings we claim to have. He looks at the inner truth!

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

Many people may say “In God I trust” but it may only be when they get into trouble that they run to Him for cover…

It is the believer who knows where that strength and safety is – in God. It is the faithful who know where to go time and time again. It is the righteous who know God.

God has given us His word that He will always be here and will always be a strong tower for us to find refuge in. Believe it. Trust Him and use His safety.

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

How do you describe God when you are asked to? I know it is almost impossible to describe Him especially when put on the spot…

David gives a good description of how he related to God through his psalms and this is just one of them.

God is everything to us. Our strength upon which we rest. Our deliverer upon whom we rely. Our sure and eternal trust and our protection in whatever circumstance.

Being able to admit these points helps us to build our faith in Him.
