Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
God made sure the prophets understood who He was and what was required from the people.
The prophets, in turn, would try to express these views to the people so they would understand too…
Do you listen to your church leaders when they try to tell you the truth from the Gospel?

Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
I woke up early this morning and looking out of the window I spotted a single very bright “star.” I think it was Betelgeuse (yes I had to look up the spelling!)
Mankind has named most bright stars in the sky – but God knows them all and also the ones we don’t know!
Every night the stars will come out – behind the clouds much of the time, but they are always there, just like God’s love for us!

Psalm 145:9 The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.
Do you think you are in the wrong place or time for God to help you out?
Have you read God’s Word? He is clearly telling us He is good to ALL He has made… that’s everyone!
God loves you more than you realise!

Psalm 1:6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
How many times have you been told “you should have listened to me!”
If we go back over the Scriptures we find how many people enjoyed life when they listened to God, and we also find out how bad life got when people did not listen to God…
We have the choice of listening to God and having a better shaped life, or ignoring God and facing up to earthly problems alone!

Psalm 80:9 You cleared the ground for it, and it took root and filled the land.
How many times have you been encouraged or surprised by how plants have grown despite the things you have done or not done?
God is the one who makes sure the plants and animals survive despite what humans do to them!
It is our task to prepare the way, and Gods task to allow the growth.

James 5:7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.
How many farmers do you see who want proof their crops are going to grow before they plough the fields and sow their seeds?
They have faith the world is going to continue turning, the seasons are going to rotate and the rains and sunshine will come again…
We need that sort of faith in Christ’s return!

Psalm 25:3 No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame, but shame will come on those who are treacherous without cause.
Have you noticed how things do go right when you listen to God?
Have you noticed you get found out in embarrassing ways when you don’t listen to God?
Are you willing to avoid embarrassment by listening to God properly?

Psalm 34:21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
One of the things in life I found hard to accept was how bad people seem to succeed when good people fail!
This is not God choosing evil over good but the world choosing evil over good.
God is giving us free choice to do what is on our hearts – we just need to learn what is righteous!

Psalm 85:13 Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.
Have you noticed how we get ourselves into trouble because we are impatient?
God wants us to have patience with His promises and to trust in Him wholly!
Everything He does is for a good reason and displays righteousness before us – follow His righteousness!

Psalm 30:6 When I felt secure, I said, ‘I shall never be shaken.’
How does your faith stand up in this world? Is you faith strong enough to overcome the trials of this world?
We need to look back over all the promises Jesus made and see how they have all come to pass so far.
This should give us a firm faith in all the promises yet to come to pass...

Isaiah 56:3 Let no foreigner who is bound to the Lord say, ‘The Lord will surely exclude me from his people.’ And let no eunuch complain, ‘I am only a dry tree.’
God has chosen to make it possible for all of us to join Him in Heaven!
We have the choice as to whether we choose to follow Him or to reject Him.
God wants to and will bless each one of us no matter what has happened in the past or what we think is ahead of us!

December 17: Jude 1:3-4
Key Verse: Jude 1:4
For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a licence for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
Devotion:
If this epistle was written by Jude the brother of James, and hence Jesus, the words hold so much more meaning than if they were not. Not because it would make him ‘famous’ but because of the inside knowledge he would have had as the brother of James and Jesus! He would have been able to hear all about what was going on through direct news through the family!
The epistle warns of the ungodly people who are going to infiltrate the church, at this stage the early Christian church! He writes these words warning of ungodly people who will take up positions of power and trust and damage things from the inside. This same warning Jesus gave to the disciples by telling them of the effect a little yeast would have in the bread mixture; it would spread throughout the dough and cause the whole mixture to be different.
The Jews mostly ate unleavened bread, so they knew the affect a little yeast would make on the dough mixture. This is the effect a single ungodly person can have on a church or congregation. I can remember doing into a church in Zimbabwe and being horrified by one or two people who were doing things which did not make sense to me; to me they were destroying the church from the inside…
These are the type of people Jude is warning about, one or two who will change the way the church exists, making it something the original designer did not intend it to be.
Points to Ponder:
Do you follow God’s rules?
Will you try to keep following God’s instructions?

Psalm 42:1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
Whenever I read these words the song written in the 80’s always springs to mind which makes us think the writer was very close to God…
But, thinking about the words it suggests to me the author was trying to find his way back to God – the living water.
Just as animals will seek out watering holes to continue their lives, so we should be seeking God’s word to enable our lives to thrive!

Psalm 80:3 Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.
God told mankind a Saviour would be born to a virgin and they should wait for this event.
Mankind got too tied up in their own lives to see when this actually came!
We need to ask God to open our eyes so we can see the truth and believe it without doubting.

Psalm 71:5 For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth.
The more you get to know someone, the more they are likely to allow you to know about them – it’s the circle of trust.
God wants us to learn more about Him every day so He can share more about Himself with us.
There is nothing more precious than the circle of trust with Christ!

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
I think people were probably more ready for their Messiah to come during the times of the prophets than they were at the time when Jesus actually came!
The same can be said about the return of Christ – people were more ready after Jesus had been with them than nowadays.
Don’t put things off thinking it’ll never happen to you...

Psalm 33:5 The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.
Many of us will never grasp the full extent of Jesus love for us until we get to spend eternity with Him.
Despite all which has gone before us, we still struggle to learn about His love.
Accepting Him into a position of control in our lives will help us to understand sooner rather than later!

Psalm 113:9 He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord.
God never turn away from prayers, instead, He will answer them with love and compassion.
When we tell something to God, we should be willing to live up to our sayings.
Turn toward God and live with your promises.

Psalm 89:1 I will sing of the Lord’s great love for ever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
How often do you allow people to know you are a Christian who believe in and trust Jesus Christ?
How often do you try to join in with the crowd even when it is not how Christ would want you to act?
Trusting Christ means giving yourself over to His great love always and forever!

Psalm 89:2 I will declare that your love stands firm for ever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
What do you say to people to tell them God’s Word is so special?
How long have you been telling people about God and about Jesus?
This Christmas why not tell someone the true story of Christ...
