Job 28:28 And he said to the human race, ‘The fear of the Lord – that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.’

The more historians study God’s word, the more they come up with and the book of Job is one which continue to divide many historically, but never spiritually.

That can be said about much of our bible! God has given us what we have so that we can understand Him more. The more we learn about Him the more we begin to respect Him for being our God.

Wisdom is about learning the truth and using that truth in our lives; it is not about learning the shortcuts, the back handers and the alternative ways so we can live the way we want…

It’s about living the right way with God as God!

Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Understanding God is difficult because He is just so awesome. I don’t say that in the “He’s really cool” way but in the way that He is just so big and mighty!

Understanding what God wants you to do can be difficult as well if we are not willing to listen; but listening gives instruction and instruction gives direction.

God continue to give us instruction in many ways, through others people, through the bible and even through the world… but we have to listen to Him in the first place.

Proverbs 14:6 A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, but knowledge is easy to him who understands.

I do marvel at how much some scientists, philosophers and other studious people can find out; but they still search for the truth in vain.

The simplicity of the Gospel can be understood by everyone who openly seeks the truth; I say openly because many studious people will shut off hearing about the Gospel because they assume it too simple.

We too can miss the point if we over-simplify things so sitting down and doing a bit of background study is always valuable for us.

Don’t close God out of your life; invite Him in to talk!

2 Peter 3:3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,

God wants us to know that we will not always have things our own way because there are people who want things for themselves instead.

Some will be very persuasive with telling you their own private interpretation on God’s Word and will sound very convincing, but comparing what they say with the actual Gospel will show the cracks.

Don’t just take what people say but rather compare it with what God says. He alone is the ultimate authority over everything.

Don’t be put off by people who say that it’s not worth checking up either because they are weakening…
