Proverbs 1:15 my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;

It is so easy to experiment with things, take a drink too far, walk on ice, balance on the edge… but as soon as you fall you know that you should not have done that! And it’s too late!

It is so easy to give in to any temptation – that is why it is called temptation; we are tempted to give it a go knowing that we should not be – and we fail!

God does not want us to “give it a go” but to separate ourselves from those evil ways and to walk with Him instead. Yes it may be hard to continue walking with God, but the rewards are without comparison!

Psalm 119:101 I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word.

Have you ever thought that if you read enough of your bible you would not sin? Well, that is one way of looking at things but this verse opens up another thought…

If you try to not get involved with sin and evil ways then you will find it a lot easier to be able to read God’s Word and to then obey what it has written within.

God wants us to try to avoid sinful ways so that we will not be tempted to go against His Word; giving us a better chance at understanding it and then applying it into our lives. We do have to try first of all, we cannot expect God do what we can’t be bothered with!

Psalm 119:99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation.

It is not going to be too often that we are able to say that we have more understanding than our teachers in a subject but there may well be a time when you can.

This is not to say that you should put your teacher down because you think you know best! They are the teachers and they have studied to get to that position. If you study harder than they did then you may well get to that stage. So study!

God wants us to study His Word so that we can know what actually happened and what He has promised. Don’t just believe what others say, find out the truth for yourself.

1 Corinthians 14:20 Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.

What do you do when someone tells you to grow up or even if they say you acting like an old person? Depending on what it is about it could be a compliment or a rebuke.

Sometimes we do need to stop acting like children and take responsibility for what we do and say; that is when people tell us to grow up. That is the responsibility and respectful position Christ wants us to have.

And other times we have to go back to the innocence that little children display, that innocence that Christ wants us to display because it shows no evil.
