Titus 2:14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
How often we do forget all the things that others have done for us as we go about our daily lives; none more so than Christ’s price He paid for us.
He would not have done that unless He knew that it was the right thing to do and that it would last forever. His aim was not just to secure a place for us, but also to encourage us toward good works.
Good works will not save our souls, but good works should be the natural product of our accepting Christ.

Deuteronomy 4:19 And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars – all the heavenly array – do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshipping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
It is an awesome sight to be able to look up into a star-filled sky from a position of darkness where we are not surrounded by the lights of a city; I love living in the countryside.
But do not ever forget that God is the one who has created all of what we can see. Man and his lights and other pollution is what is stopping us from seeing God’s creation.
And it is not just physically but spiritually as well as man tries to cloud the sky with his own ways instead.

Psalm 136:7 To Him who made great lights, For His mercy endures forever—
Have you ever thought what it would be like to have to live in perpetual darkness? Some people have been able to experience long periods of darkness by living and working very close to the poles, but we always know that the Sun and Moon are out there somewhere!
The sun shines brightly and brings warmth, light and life to the earth in a perfect balance that could not be made by chance without burning out or freezing out everything that came before it.
Instead, God started with everything in balance and He continues to keep it there because of His endless mercy!

Psalm 74:14 You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, And gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
We may stand in awe of our amazing God and all that He has created, but we must always remember that He is the one that has given us dominion over all the earth.
That means that we do have dominion over the largest animals and mammals as well – but just because we have dominion does not mean we can spoil everything into extinction.
God wants us to be good stewards over what He has given us from the smallest insects to the largest animals and mammals because they are all His creation for us!

Psalm 104:26 There the ships sail about; There is that Leviathan which You have made to play there.
No matter how far we think we have gone in technology and in breaking physical boundaries, we do have to remember just what God has created as natural!
It has taken man a long time to get ships that can conquer the oceans and yet God created the largest mammals to roam freely in the deep oceans.
It is only in the last hundred years that man has been able to fly with relative ease, but God created birds to roam the skies freely from the beginning.
We stand in awe!

Psalm 104:24 O Jehovah, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your riches.
We do not have to know every little thing about God’s creation in order to see how wonderful it is because when we look at it as a whole, we can marvel!
Every time scientists, biologists and others dig into the intricate parts of nature we find more things that we cannot yet explain; each part being a perfect creation for the overall solution required.
Some may favour evolution but the intricate design shows me an awesome designer who has created everything – and we have only just scratched the surface!

Hebrews 11:11 And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.
As your children grow up and leave home you are left with a longing to have them back; but that is nothing compared to the longing for a child should you not have one!
Abraham and Sarah had long past child-bearing age and yet God visited them to tell them they would soon be having a child. At first they were unbelieving but that quickly turned to faith as they waited patiently.
God will always deliver on His promises!

Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
Although we may begin to accept that God can do anything, we do expect Him to do things according to our own timeframe; we expect Him to answer prayers when we want and to do what we want!
God has given us enough examples in our history for us to realise that He answers according to what He knows is best and according to His times and not ours.
When the Lord said to Abraham that his wife would have a baby it was certainly not in their times because they thought they were both well past having children – but with God it is possible!

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing will be impossible.
Another aspect of the impossible (as seen by man) being made possible because God said so!
God is just and has never lied to us; that means we can trust in every single thing that He has said. Everything that God has said has or will come true because everything that He has said is a promise to us.
I have learned to trust in all the things that God has given us through our bibles because I see them come true. I know people have their own agendas and I know the truth is always pushed or stretched; but not so with God.

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
How many times have you heard people say that they do not deserve something or that they should not be able to get or achieve something? Some people get all hung up about not being able to be a Christian because they are so naughty or have an evil past.
Well, don’t you know that God already knows that? God is the one who does know what we get up to and He alone is the one who can make it possible.
This verse is here to remind us that it is possible for God to forgive us, no matter what the sin, as long as we believe in Him!

Luke 1:50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation.
When people truly fear God with a reverential fear (and not a knee knocking fear) they start doing things God’s way. When they do that, they please God.
What happens when you please your parents? Good things happen! Well if your parents can make good things happen just because you please them, think about how much more God can do when you please Him…
But don’t do it just for the reward, do it because you love Him! If you think your parents have eyes in the back of their heads, don’t tempt God!

Psalm 128:1 Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.
When people ask me why I smile so much or why I seem to be happy all the time I tell them it is because I believe in Christ and He is the one who makes me happy.
Of course there are others around me who make my heart leap for joy too, but it is Christ who gives me the peace and joy that goes far beyond my understanding.
Many may look at me twice when I say this, but I know it is sowing seeds that will make them think…

Psalm 127:3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
When your children grow up and become successful in their own ways they stand as a heritage for you. They will have their own ups and downs at times but you become immensely proud of them as they grow.
When we continue to grow in Christ I’m sure that we become a heritage for God; and even when we make mistakes God is willing to give us another go – right up until that point when it will be too late!
Catching children doing something wrong is never rewarding, but seeing them do something right is!

Hebrews 2:13 And again: “I will put My trust in Him.” And again: Here am I and the children whom God has given Me.”
No matter how hard a non-believer tries to understand the Gospel, they are not going to hear the truth until they believe the simple truths in the beginning.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God, was born, died, buried, raised and lives again – just because He loves you!
When you take in that truth you take in the Spirit of God and He will show you His truths from the inside so that you will know them and not just read about it!

Matthew 13:11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.
Being able to understand the Gospel is not a natural occurrence. That may sound odd when we know that God created us; but when I say natural I mean of this world, not God’s original creation.
The world breaks us away from hearing the gospel, blocks our ears, covers our eyes and then fills us full of garbage that has nothing to do with Christ or the Gospel.
We need the Holy Spirit to give us our daily understanding so that we can continue to grow in the Gospel message and in God’s strength.

Isaiah 32:3 Then the eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will listen.
Every one of us who hears the true Gospel message will be brightened from the inside as the Spirit works within us. We will no longer be as blind people allowing the Gospel to go by without seeing but will be able to soak it all in.
We will no longer be deaf to the Gospel as it is told around us but will be built up, encouraged and strengthened by every word we hear.
Thank you God for opening my eyes and ears to your Gospel and strengthening me from the inside day by day!

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
When we really get to know Christ we begin to understand just how much He means to each of us. King David describes God here as being everything to him.
He is our protection through everything because He is all powerful and has promised to look after us when we ask. He has proved that many times over and we can depend on that.
He is our inner strength when the world wears us down and that strength never disappears, even when we close our eyes to it…

Psalm 92:15 proclaiming, ‘The Lord is upright; He is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in Him.’
Have you ever thought about what you are giving to others when you teach them about Christ?
We give out the Gospel and show people that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He paid for our sin debt so many years ago, setting us free forever!
When we tell them of Christ we show that He is God and that He has no sin in Him, even though He paid for our sins. We tell them that He means everything to us and that we depend on Him for everything.
Live it!

Psalm 92:14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
No matter what age we are saved at we are given the ability to share what has happened to us with someone else. That is following Christ’s commandment to the disciples to go out and teach others.
When we are first saved we are like children, willing and able to lap things up so that we learn more about Christ. We learn the simple steps first and grow in those steps.
As we learn those steps we can teach others those simple steps – we don’t all have to be preachers to start with!

Romans 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
The more that you are involved with sin the more that you struggle to keep focus on God and on things that He wants in your life; but the more you are able to leave that sin behind the more you will be able to focus on His ways.
He has given us the chance of turning our backs on sin because of what Jesus Christ has done for us. We are no longer trapped in those sinful ways but have been set free.
Yes we still live amongst sinners. Yes we are still tempted. Yes we still sin. But we have the choice of following Christ and His ways; and that sets us free!
