1 John 5:17 All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.

We can read in parts of our bibles where people willingly committed sins and they paid for them there and then with their lives!

But we can also read about many people who have sinned and have not either been put to death of died because of their sins...

Our God, though just, has mercy and is willing to forgive. The question then becomes, are we willing to admit to the sins in our lives and ask for the forgiveness!

John 17:20 My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,

Jesus made sure we, as believers, would be safe no matter what was about to happen to Him!

He knew the horrors which lay ahead of Him, but His prayers were for mankind's protection... Anyone who was willing to believe!

If we are willing to pass on the gospel message to others, and they wish to believe as well – then they will be safe because this is what Christ asked for!

Psalm 1:4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

When I was young I used to watch films of Africans tossing their wheat into the air thinking it was a bit of a waste they were losing so much to the wind!

But with a bit of ageing and a whole lot of learning I have learned this is the way they separated what they could eat from the dry husks which were worthless to them – they were using what God gave them to achieve what we did with extraordinary machinery!

God wants us to take what he has given us and use it to the best of our ability – He is trying to teach us how to live with His blessings every day!

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers

Have you noticed how God does not just forgive us and allow us to go on doing our own thing!

Jesus paid the ultimate price on our behalf and expects us to try and show the same love toward Him as He showed to us...

This does mean turning away from the evil or bad ways we used to live by... God is setting us free from the temptations of this world, but we still have to make a choice!

Psalm 46:10 He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’

When you are a parent, you can normally make out your child's voice in among a crowd!

We are children of God, and He hears us clearly no matter what is going on in the world around us.

If we truly enter into a loving relationship with God, we will hear His voice clearly no matter how loud the world shouts!

Ephesians 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

One thing we learn from the Holy Spirit is how to put aside our earthly lives and live more for God and according to His will in our lives.

It is hard to leave behind all our earthly desires because we are surrounded by them and they are constantly with us.

But if we try to make Christ and the Holy Spirit a permanent part of our daily lives, we will be able to live a very different life for God!

Ephesian 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

This may seem a strange verse to read on the back of how God opened the gospel to all people, including the gentiles, but it has an important aspect!

The Jews knew they had God and knew they would ultimately go to be with Him when they died... the gentiles were yet to find the one True God!

We may cling to all manner of things in our lives in the hope we will have a better life, but the truth is the only special life we have will be with Christ after we die...

Ephesians 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

The more we try to act like Jesus did, the closer we will get to be like Him – not in the sense the evil one wanted to be better than Christ, but in showing the ultimate love He showed us first!

As children of God, we get to learn about how we should love, when we should, what we should avoid, etc, etc.

The more we learn, the more we know how we should pray for and love our neighbours.

The closer we get to living like this every day – the closer we get to the image Christ wanted for us!

Ephesians 3:6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

When God calls you to do something difficult, it is probably not because He wants to test you and find out how much you can take – despite how you feel!

God will only call you to do something He knows you can do – and He is not going to be picky about whom He calls you to work with!

Sometimes God calls us to work with the people we feel most uncomfortable with – but He knows you will be able to do it!

Philippians 2:14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing

How do you react when you are asked to do something for God?

I’m not talking about being asked by someone else to do something in church because they are short staffed or something but being asked by God to do something!

Yes, God does ask us to do things, but far too often we either ignore the calling or we say we can’t do it or don’t want to do it...

Ephesians 1:16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.

How often do you pray for the people who stand up and deliver the gospel to others?

How often do you pray for the people who are in control of your country?

How often do you pray for the people who are in control of the church?

Our leaders, no matter where they serve, need our continual prayers!

Psalm 10:1 Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

What happens when something big goes very wrong? The first thing is probably a feeling of being very alone all of a sudden.

Then the feelings of regret and guilt which you try desperately to hide!

Even though these are our first feelings which stay with us in those troubled times, they are not the reality!

God is with us and wants to guide us in every walk in life. If we are willing to stay with Him, we will not have such great feelings of loneliness, guilt and regret!

Psalm 12:7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe and will protect us for ever from the wicked

So many people seem to focus on evil things in life because they imagine they can gain more for themselves...

God has put this world in place, balanced with everything so we can live in harmony with others.

God wants us to look out for the needy and stay away from the wicked – He has given this encouragement from the beginning of time!

We have the choice to follow God’s advice and live a better life, or get tied up in worldly greed and pride and ignore all which God tries to give us.

Proverbs 1:33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.’

It’s not knowing God which will keep you safe from harm, but listening to God which will!

The evil one knows God, but he does not listen to God – hence things go wrong all the time!

But, if we behave much like some of the great people in our bibles, we will be safer because we begin to see how much they listened to and obeyed God!

John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

When we show God how much we love Him, we experience the full loving relationship He wants with us.

How do we show God we love Him? How about inviting Him into your home...

What is God’s promise? To love us, no matter what. To come into our lives when we ask Him to – no matter what!

John 15:12 My command is this: love each other as I have loved you.

When Jesus was faced with a Pharisee who thought he knew all the rules and regulations (as well he may have because he was a learned Pharisee) He turned all the rules into two...

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.

And, you must love each other just as much...

This is the love Jesus showed us all by doing all He did before the whole world...

John 15:4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

We must always remember to walk close to God by staying close to the truth we know from our bibles and from the Holy Spirit.

If we remain close to God, He is able to keep us safer from the world around us than if we walk off and do our own things!

Trusting God sometimes means having to stop doing something we like because it is not helping others get to know God...

Acts 8:35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.

What are your earliest memories about stories from the bible?

Have you tried to tell someone else your favourite story?

Philip used what knowledge he had to teach someone who was willing to listen and learn!

You’ll be surprised at how many people do want to learn more about the bible and know virtually nothing... help them...

John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever

When Jesus explained He was not going to be with the disciples for much longer, He reassured them by saying He would ask God to bring someone who could be with them – always.

This being the third person in the God-Head. The Holy Spirit.

Whilst we cannot get our heads round this fact God is three separate parts, but one God – He does not want us to be left alone or confused by things.

Listen out for the Holy Spirit and He will give you enough understanding to live your life for God in faith!

Isaiah 32:2 Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, like streams of water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a thirsty land.

When we have someone in power who listen to God and follows His instruction, we have a country which is good to live in.

Alas, so many people are corrupted by power and leadership and stop listening to God; our land becomes like a dry desert, harsh to live in.

Allow God to guide you in everyday life, but always ask Him to guide our country’s leaders as well!
