Ephesians 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

One thing we learn from the Holy Spirit is how to put aside our earthly lives and live more for God and according to His will in our lives.

It is hard to leave behind all our earthly desires because we are surrounded by them and they are constantly with us.

But if we try to make Christ and the Holy Spirit a permanent part of our daily lives, we will be able to live a very different life for God!

Ephesian 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

This may seem a strange verse to read on the back of how God opened the gospel to all people, including the gentiles, but it has an important aspect!

The Jews knew they had God and knew they would ultimately go to be with Him when they died... the gentiles were yet to find the one True God!

We may cling to all manner of things in our lives in the hope we will have a better life, but the truth is the only special life we have will be with Christ after we die...

Ephesians 4:15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

The more we try to act like Jesus did, the closer we will get to be like Him – not in the sense the evil one wanted to be better than Christ, but in showing the ultimate love He showed us first!

As children of God, we get to learn about how we should love, when we should, what we should avoid, etc, etc.

The more we learn, the more we know how we should pray for and love our neighbours.

The closer we get to living like this every day – the closer we get to the image Christ wanted for us!

Ephesians 3:6 This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.

When God calls you to do something difficult, it is probably not because He wants to test you and find out how much you can take – despite how you feel!

God will only call you to do something He knows you can do – and He is not going to be picky about whom He calls you to work with!

Sometimes God calls us to work with the people we feel most uncomfortable with – but He knows you will be able to do it!
