Exodus 23:5 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it.

Let’s bring this screaming into the modern age… If you see someone who hates you and they have broken down with a car full of shopping, will you stop and help them out?

Kinda brings on a new meaning when we make it all about our modern age – we do tend to ignore people on the other side of the road, ignore them because they have a different car, or just ignore them anyway!

God asked us to be friends with people, to love people and to share with people – right from the beginning!

Isn’t it time we started to listen!

Galatians 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.

When Jesus was here on earth He reminded the disciples and those around about how they should be sharing in each other’s troubles in life – sharing our burdens.

Life does seem a whole lot more bearable when there is someone else to walk through the difficult times with you – even if you don’t think you want the help or support!

God knows we do need each other and knows who is best to be there for us; we need to open up and share in our burdens to show Him we are listening to and obeying Him!

Romans 15:1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.

What would it be like to always have a strong person on call when you needed them? What would it be like if they always turned up just as you needed them?

We all do need support at some time in our lives, and the more we are able to do the more we are actually able to do for others too.

Life is not all about pleasing yourself as much as possible, but being there for others so they too can have a great life – share your burdens and share in someone else’s burdens too.

Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Stop and ask yourself – why am I actually doing this? Is it to make myself feel good, to make someone else feel good, to make myself look good?

We do not need to prove anything to God or to man. What we need to do is to listen to God and fill the needs of His people – that is God’s wish.

Our lot is not to be popular because we do things and call them Christian or charitable or nice; our lot is to be willing and able to do the will of God which will fulfil many of the above without taking the glory from God!
