Matthew 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Jesus declared Simon to be blessed, not because he had done anything special or had the scriptures explained to him by a Rabbi; but because he listened to God for the explanation!

When you meditate on God’s Word, always be ready for Him to explain it to you as well.

It is not what we can discern, or what others can teach us but how God is able to teach us that will truly bless us. Don’t just believe in Him but trust in Him for inspiration and revelation!

2 Corinthians 3:14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.

Don’t get upset when you think you do not understand the Bible or what others say about the Bible; throughout the scriptures there are many times when people just needed that extra bit of help in understanding what God wants to say to them.

We have friends, teachers and leaders who are willing and able to help us. Don’t be shy in asking for help or admitting you do not understand.

And that also means do not hold back from asking the Holy Spirit for understanding and discernment; He has promised to give us and we ought to wait on Him too.

Acts 9:18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.

Saul still did not see the whole purpose of the Gospel after his experience on the road to Damascus. It was only after Ananias prayed for him that his eyes were truly opened.

God is able to tell us everything we ought to know, but He wants us to hear it from people around us too.

God wants our trust, but He also wants our fellowship; that fellowship begins with being around people who know Him too.

Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’

This is what God told Paul on the road to Damascus. God gave Paul the command to open other people’s eyes and ears!

In the same manner Jesus has asked us to go out and spread the Gospel, the Good News. By doing so we are enabling others to see and hear the truth.

God wants to make sure we are all given the opportunity to hear His word and He wants our help to do this – people would rather believe their friends or people they know.

Start showing your friends how much you care about them!
