Ezekiel 47:10 It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their nets. Their fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many.

Ezekiel foretold of the fishers of men many years before Christ walked on the earth inviting the disciples to become those fishers of men!

We may not understand the old language fully but when we begin to realise how much the prophets told the Jews we may struggle to see how they could not see it.

Don’t forget we have the knowledge about Jesus coming to earth and many of the things He did are written down for us; they were still learning!

Just like a new is used to catch many different fish, we too can use the Bible to give the gospel to many different people.

Mark 1:17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

How good were Simon and Andrew at fishing? Well they must have had some success because they were known as fishermen!

They must have thought themselves to be good enough to make a living from the fishing as well.

What made them stop and follow Christ? It was what Jesus was saying. It was the gospel.

Don’t take my word for it; stop and read the first chapter of Mark and see what Jesus was doing; it may just open your eyes too!

Mark 2:14 As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.

Can you imagine the authority of Jesus’ voice and demeanour which made each of the disciples stop what they were doing and follow Him?

I have not met many preachers or teachers who have authority to make me stop whatever I am doing and listen; my mind is far too active and races off thinking about too many things!

I can imagine a tax collector having a very logical and calculating mind; yet he too stopped what he was doing to follow Jesus.

Stop what you are doing and give the next five minutes to Christ!

Matthew 26:40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?

I wonder if you have ever been in a position where you have thought the people around you are just not supporting you like you think they should.

Jesus was in a position where He knew exactly what was going to happen very soon and He wanted to pray. Not just that but He wanted a bit of support whilst praying.

If someone needs prayers then step forward and give them the support they need; they may not know just how much they need the support until it is there!
