John 20:4 So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.

When the disciples ran to the tomb they ran as fast as they could, John out-running Simon-Peter because he was younger and fitter.

When you get to hear something about Jesus, what do you do and how quickly do you react?

We should be running round like John, fastest and quickest to give our best for Christ.

But John did not go into the tomb, stopping outside and waiting for Simon-Peter to catch up and go in first…

Be first. Be bold and run the race to completion!

1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

What happens in the Olympic games? Do all the runners jog slowly round and cross the line together in harmony?

Certainly not; this is an all-out battle to see who can physically run the fastest, jump the highest and all manner of other sports! Only one person or one team get the gold medal!

We are reminded here we are in a race and we need to do our best to be as good as we can in this race.

Show your love for Christ by being the best you can be all of the time.

John 20:4 So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.

How do you react when you get life changing news? Do you try and tell people quicker than anyone else or do you simply hide it?

I think we all try to tell everyone when we receive good news, but when we receive bad news we try to hide it. How did the disciples react?

They rand back to their own little group to try and figure out what had happened. Mary was convinced He was alive, but some disciples were not so convinced!

If you hear of something Christ has done, tell it to the world, don’t hide it and try figure out how it is possible; just tell people!

Luke 23:52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

Why on earth would you go to the governing people and ask for a dead person’s body?

Well Joseph was a man who was probably well known in the Jewish circles because he was fairly rich, was a member of the council and already had his own tomb bought and paid for.

His plan was to give what he had to Jesus to show his support and love for God. He was doing this in spite of the fact he was probably going to be mocked for doing that.

How far are you willing to go to show your love and support for Christ nowadays?
