Proverbs 16:1 The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

Have you ever wondered why you get into trouble when you just go with your heart? If we base our life on emotional responses we are going to get into all sorts of trouble because our emotions do tend to fill up and spill out a lot quicker than wisdom.

God wants us to be able to enjoy life so He has given us the gift of emotions, and they are important. But He has also given us the ability to stop and think and then to say what is right rather than saying the emotional response we want to say.

Don’t just say something because you feel like it – you may end up saying something you don’t want to say. Be patient and wait for God to sort out your tongue…

Proverbs 24:26 An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.

Ok, so I couldn’t resist a kiss on Valentine’s day!

If you want to show someone today just how much they mean to you, then you need to be totally honest with them. Being honest and open will go a whole lot further than a kiss on the lips because it will reach deep down into their hearts.

Yes it can be a scary thing to reach down into someone’s heart, but that is what we need to do in order to be able to live a true life with others. It is not just about a kiss or a hug, love is about sharing your heart, not in part, but in full!

Psalm 64:9 All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.

No matter what we get up to, no matter what we believe, no matter what we ignore in life, each of us one day will have to face Jesus Christ in person. If that is the time when we finally get to believe that He is real I guess then we will be a bit late in our belief – but believe we will!

The more that we are able to see how much God has done in the history of the earth, the more we will realise just how awesome He is. What we choose to do that that new-found knowledge is our choice.

We can continue to ignore God, or we can turn and face Him and believe in Him. I would rather do it now than face Him later…

Galatians 5:23 (fruits of the spirit continued) gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Yesterday we touched on the sort of life that we would expect in a Christian because that is what God wants us to have. Today we look at it from the worlds point of view. If we have peace, love and joy in our lives the world is going to become jealous of our lives.

We need to display gentleness and self-control to make sure that we show others they can have this too. There is no law against us having a wonderful life; but the world will seem like it is against us because we dare to be different and enjoy what God gives us!

God has given us a wonderful and bountiful life – if we choose to follow Him and trust in Him to give us that life. I have it, you can too!
