Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinful men entice you, do not give in to them.

How easy do you find it to listen to others? It is amazing how easy we pick up on other peoples conversations even when we should not be listening to them. Because we listen we then begin to think about what they are saying and before long we then think that maybe we should give it a try…

It is so easy to get involved in what others are saying and doing without realising that it is happening. Once we start to get on that road we find it harder to stop – just like stepping on to an escalator, once you are on it you move with it without doing anything.

Psalm 59:7 See what they spew from their mouths – the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, ‘Who can hear us?’

How many times do you just say what you want and don’t care who hears it? Or how many times do you say something about someone just because they cannot hear you at the time?

We are all guilty of doing things like this at some time or another, but what we do forget is that God will always hear you! No matter how far we think we are away from people, God is always close by us.

And it is not just the things we say out loud but those thoughts we have and those things that we do. We may not think we are affecting others, but we always do!

Psalm 37:31 The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.

When was the last time you had to trust someone in a very serious situation? It is not always easy nor comfortable to place your faith and trust in someone else, especially when you cannot see them; but God wants us to know that if we do exactly that, He will be there holding on to us tighter than we can imagine.

Believing God’s Word is one thing, having faith to trust in it entirely is a big step forward to having faith in God. He has shown us through many examples in the bible that we can trust Him wholly, but it is still our choice that we have to make.

Walking on ice may not be much fun unless we have someone holding us tight…

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

When you want to be able to please someone you try to do things that will make them happy or try to do what they say. Making your parents happy can sometimes be as simple as listening to what they say and obeying that.

God is no different than parents in that way. He would love us to listen to what He says and then to go out and do that. He is not going to be whispering that in our ears each day so we need to read our bibles to find out what He would like us to do.

He has given all of us the same instruction manual so that we can all get things right… if we listen…
