Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

When you want something, waiting around to see what could happen is not going to do much, but if you go forward with confidence and seek what you want, things may just work out a bit better!

God does not need us to come to Him because there is nothing that He cannot do, instead He wants us to come to Him so that we know that it was our act of trust, hope or faith that allowed us to find Him. That first step is the seed of belief that has been inside us from the beginning and God wants to make it grow. We start that by opening the door to Him…

Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

This is a statement repeated after something a prophet called Joel had said 800 years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem. God has always wanted us to call on His name, right from to time when He first showed us that we break His laws.

Calling on God to say that we are sorry for the things we have done wrong is as simple as talking to a friend but it can be as difficult as climbing a mountain unless we accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

God is waiting, patiently, continually, lovingly and willingly, just for you.

John 8:45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

How many times have you asked someone “why don’t you believe me?”

Sometimes the truth seems to be more than we can cope with and we would rather continue believing a lie because it is easier to do that. But that does not make the lie any closer to the truth; it is still a lie!

It is hard to turn round and tell the truth after you have hidden behind a lie for a while but the truth does have to come out. God already knows the truth, He just wants you to admit it. You are the only one who can admit it, others can tell of it, but you must admit it personally.

John 5:40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.

What use would it be to look at the instructions to build something but ignore them and do it your own way instead? What use would it be to look up verses but just ignore them?

God has given us the bible so that we will know what we should be doing, but unless we do it we have not done anything. God wants us to come to Him so that He can give us what He has promised. As it says in the first verse I memorised, God wants to give us eternal life, but we must take the first step and come to Him and believe in Him.
